I was sitting in the Pilot in a shopping center parking lot the other day, waiting for my husband to pick up a prescription. I noticed a new-looking Silver Pilot, still with temporary tags, parked nearby. As the time stretched out and I got a little bored, it occurred to me, "Why not leave a note under the windshield wiper of that Pilot advising them to check out this great board, if they haven't already"? I didn't act on my idea, in part because I didn't have any decent note paper with me.

Do you think anyone would be offended by a stranger leaving a note like that? Or is it just a dumb idea? I love this board, but I stumbled upon it pretty much by accident. I was just thinking it would sort of be a community service to acquaint somebody else with honda-pilot.org that might benefit from becoming a member.

I don't think it is dumb at all. I too stumbled upon this site by accident. I think it was through someone who posted a consumer review on Edmunds. There are not ANY sites relating to the Pilot besides a couple of review places. The message board is the best place to get "real" people's perspective on the, including all of the problems.

YOU TOUCH MY NEW PILOT AND YOUR :3: J/K:2:

It really depends on the note, if it's some Sweetie wanting to meet me then no problem:confused: Wait that is a problem, I'm married.

I guess if it where another Pilot owner it would be OK but if it's advertisement or a ticket then I'd be mad.

I think it would of been a good idea. It would of been fun for that person to come on and find out who left it.

Now if notes start appearing on my Pilot I know who left them.

Here's another recent idea for attracting new owners to the site. The more members there are the more group buys we get.:2:

Tim.s, somehow I missed the thread about the "business card" and came up with a similar idea independently. I think it would be great if we could put something together to attract new Pilot owners to the site...or those (like florida_guy) who are trying to make a decision.

What do others think? Is it worth pursuing further?

I like this idea too. It would be nice to "solicite" fellow Pilot owners a bit more formal, rather than on an old napkin.:p

This site rocks and I want to share my joy with others.:2:

I don't actually think there are more people out there like florida_guy. And if we do the business card on Pilots they would have to own one, unlike florida_guy, and then maybe one of those new people could talk him into actually buying a Pilot!:4:

In all seriousness I think it might bring some new users out. I would suggest printing on both sides of whatever is done, so that the person can see what it is all about from inside, if they don't see the card before getting in their car, or from the outside before getting in. I always get advertisements on my car when it is parked at the train station and just throw them away without looking at them, if I just knew it was someone trying to help me I might actaully look at it.

Assuming we somehow get past creating and printing "business cards" or flyers about honda-pilot.org, what would be an easy/inexpensive way to distribute them?

My first thought was whether it would be feasible to ask our local Honda dealerships if we could leave our "cards" with them, to be placed somewhere in the showroom visible to the public. Or to ask the Sales Manager if individual salespeople, at their discretion, could give them out to customers. But, I suspect this wouldn't work; Honda would not want to be seen as endorsing this board in any way.

It would be nice to have a few to hand out to folks we encounter in parking lots, gas stations, etc., who are driving Pilots. Or to leave on the windshield, if the drivers aren't around! Or to give to co-workers, friends, or family members who might be considering buying a Pilot. But first, we've got to come up with a product to pass out!

Yup, and we can leave our username on the "flyer" and if/when the new user joins, they can say (for example) "Kemosabe referred me to this board!" and we can have a "VIN" table that keeps track of referrals... or not. :D

I like the idea, but where are you going to find a volunteer who is creative enuff to come up with a first crack at the so-called flyer? :8:

Soft Copy Cards for us to print

Maybe one of you graphic artists out there (or admin) can come up with a soft copy to email all of us so we can print some up on card stock and distribute ourselves. Saves on shipping this way.

Hey, that's a great idea, especially for everyone with a color printer!

Yippee!

I love the idea but think I lack on the creative side, so don't think I will be able to come up with the best design. But...if I think this is a fun & effective way to share the board family with others.

so.....ramirami do you use an Apple computer?

I might consider it if you can get together a Group to Buy into the idea -- 10 or more users need to sign up and get Tim's approval??? :p
I actually have emailed Tim to get his approval of the idea....hopefully, you're serious!

come on now, we are being serious:p
