You only get 3 choices and you have to get it on the Elite. Currently, those 3 are Crystal Black Pearl, Platinum Pearl White and Modern Steel Metallic.

It all comes down to personal preference but I think the brown goes better with the black or the white as it has a better contrast on both colors. I have the white. My last Acura was White Diamond Pearl so I guess I have a soft spot for pearl whites.
Thanks a lot. How is it keeping the white clean? Never had a white car and the metallic steel color is a bit too dark for me.

Nah, I'm just pointing out in general how others (youtube vids) always have to compare one to others and that this could've have been better or whatnot. The other night I was driving and noticed another SUV (not sure what suv his driving) keeps on driving next to me with his window rolled down yelling "NICE DURANGO" I ignored it cause I know his being sarcastic.
People are just weird!

Keeping it clean isn’t too bad at all - much better than darker colors. My wife has a Lunar Silver Metallic MDX and that probably hides dirt the best but you can’t get the brown interior with that color. I just use Adam’s detail products along with Optimum wax and I think it cleans up pretty well.

hello all,

After 25k miles, I figured I could add my basic 2 cents on the 2023 Pilot…

First off, it’s been a good vehicle to us. Zero issues (except wireless phone charge is a tad hit/miss). Nothing mechanical, nothing electrical, nothing weird.

Inside the car is QUIET, compared to our previous vehicle (2018 CRV). When I left our house first day I got the Pilot & closed garage door, I thought garage didn’t close, because I didn’t hear it. But that was just because the CRV sound dampening was way worse than this Pilot.

It is admittedly kinda slow accel. Handles very well though & can be fun to drive turns due to minimal roll for a vehicle this size.

The transmission is smoooooth. 25k miles in & I still am amazed when I barely feel the shift from 2-3 or 3-4. The only one that isnt butter is 1-2.

The Pano roof has been fun. The brown leather color was a great choice with the roof open, it looks very nice,

We get 23.5mpg. I have about 30-50% tread left in the tires.

All in all, I dont really have much to say. We just got back from a 1,500 mile roadtrip to the smoky mountains and it performed just as well, if not better than the Grand Wagoneer that we rented last year. I would say better since the Grand Wagoneer’s electronics were glitching out during the trip

It has been a solid vehicle, that just like all of our previous Honda’s, has given us zero fuss.
It’s the whole reason to buy a Honda imo.

If any questions lmk, but I give Honda 9/10 on the 23 Pilot. 10/10 if better exterior color choices and faster acceleration. Good luck to everyone!

Great positive vibe! Good to hear!

Our 2021 Pilot EX-L sUv has 42k on it (replaced a 2006 EXL with 220k, and note the capital U). The 2021 is quieter and rides better than out 2006 (when newer), but the handling is not as crisp. It has about equal power, but the 9-speed is a major upgrade. Very smooth, can't feel it shift and gives is about 26+mpg on a regular basis (Eco mode). My only complaint is it takes too long for the transmission to shift from R to D. I do agree about the high beams though. The high lighting is kind of wimpy and the AutoHighBeam is inconsistent. My biggest issues are some of the annoying safety tweaks, like not being able to move with the door open, that you can't stop the tailgate open alarm beeping and having to step on the brake to start (this is not an Audi). My last comment would be the rather silly console layout. Why are there buttons on the console ? Put them on the dashboard. Having to look down to use them is annoying and dangerous. My dog has put the vehicle in Sport mode a couple of times, even got it into Snow mode once.

Overall, there are one or two small things I liked better in the 2006, but we are quite satisfied with our choice. Just hope we get to 200k with as little trouble as our 2006.

Agree with you all. I think what needs to be improved... -somewhat uncomfortable front seats -weak ventilation on front seats -at least 8way power movement on the front passenger seat -weak towing capacity - OK up to like 3000 lbs -need more power -miserable Nav map

It's a bigger and heavier vehicle. I said it before, it could do with a little more hp.
After driving from Ottawa to New York with my family I formed the opinion that this vehicle should have had around 295 - 300hp. Just from the seat of my pants kinda estimate. Others on this forum beg to differ thinking its about racing the 3-row SUV.
Have you tried higher octane gas? I use crap California 91 and have gone WOT (wide open throttle) to pass all the time and didn't feel like I have problems accelerating, does pretty good from 60-80 with 4 adults and 2 kids in car. I used to have hesitation at 5200rpms with 87 octane, went away on 3rd tank of 91 and have been using 91 since.

Twin turbos from the MDX doesn't sound bad:LOL:

It does look a little like a Durango on first glance. Honda was using framed or porthole windows for the 3rd side window (with a thick C pillar) years before Dodge in the CRV and Pilot, though. The current Pilot actually looks like a larger 2nd gen CRV.

I think the Pilot is the best-looking larger SUV out there--better than most luxury SUVs in fact.

The design works better on the larger Pilot than the CR-V, I don't much care for the CR-V right now. The CR-V viewed head on has an angle up and out with the headlights that doesn't look right to me. I also think the HR-V looks better with the front end design language.

I agree, it is one of the better looking three row crossovers, maybe the best looking in the "mainstream" class. Fortunately, the "lozenge" shape seems to have fallen out of vogue and all of the vehicles are getting much better looking.

I'm still shocked with 10 gears and "the highest HP Honda EVER!!!!!" that they are slower than the previous generation with the 9 speed. I wonder what gives.
There’s a reason the brake rotors are bigger requiring 18” wheels for winter tires and that’s because the ‘23 Pilot is heavier than previous models.
I’m not running any 1/4 mile races so the acceleration is okay for me but it is definitely slower than the 5 Odyssey’s I’ve had over the last 10 years.

Well, I suppose if somebody really wanted to, they could find a way to remove the 3rd row seat (which brings up the question of why did you buy the Pilot over the Passport, but we'll ignore that.) That probably weighs close to 100 pounds. That and the center position in the 2nd row and that's a good 120 lbs minimum.

The bummer is, there's a lot more than that to lose to get down to the previous gen's weight. Per 2023 Honda Pilot Specifications & Features the Elite trim is especially porky. I would love to know how the 456 lbs (4,660 vs 4,202) difference between an LX and an Elite is allocated! An Elite compared to an EX-L is only ~200 lbs but I'd still love to know specifically where the fat is on the Elite. I'm comparing 4wd for all trims. But actually the heaviest new gen Pilot is the TrailSport at 4,685. At least it's got skid plates that must weigh a fair bit.

Here's a look at the 2022 Pilot - 2022 Honda Pilot Specifications & Features - the heaviest one is "only" 4,321 lbs. I'm guessing the 20" wheels weigh more than the 18" ones.

Extra 450 pounds in my Elite vs other dude's LX is the 4 hot chicks that jumped in the back and now riding around with me heading to the party because they like the way we roll in the Elite ;)

I think the Pano roof has to be a large part of the 163 lb difference difference between the Elite and EX-L AWD w/bench.

Glass is pretty heavy! Plus there probably has to be more structural reinforcement in the roof to hold the extra mass due to the glass, track assembly, motors etc. Notice the difference between the Elite and Touring AWD is only 35 lbs.

Actually the new LX is 114 lbs heavier than the previous gen Elite. I would imagine a lot of that is simply in the crash / chasis structure. Then you gain weight adding power seats, leather, pano roof, skid plates, bigger wheels / tires, and ventilated seats as you climb the trim ladder.

Agreed. Plus the new gen is a larger vehicle, so that is going to require more steel/etc.

Hows the headlights on those back roads. I love the width of the low beams but I find the high beams lacking in throw. I haven't been on any dark backroads yet though as I just got the car a month ago. Coming off of a projector bi-xenon with additional bulb for high beams in my old car and my wifes projector bi-led with extra high beam led. I feel like I might need to add a driving beam to the pilot
Lights are great IMO. Bright! I drive HWY 88 in CA which is a twisty dark road in the mountains and the Pilot lights are fabulous. That said, the fog lights are not too wide and don't make a huge difference. Auto-dimming works really well-IMO (you can shut it off if you want).
