Just put a $500 deposit on an AWD EX-L (Modern Steel). I paid MSRP of $45,395, plus $314 in Doc/Gov fees, for a total of 45,709 plus sales tax. No mandatory accessories or PP0. The dealer also increased the trade-in allowance for my CX-9 from $26,000 to $27,400 to match my offer from Carmax.

The total process took about 45 minutes, which included two 15 minute test drives. The Pilot is scheduled to be built in late February, with a March/April delivery.

Just put a $500 deposit down with my local dealership in Columbia, SC on a 2WD Black/Black Touring that is projected to be built on Feb 16th.

MSRP: $46,450
Destination Fee: $1300
Accessories Package (All Weather Mats, Cargo Tray, Mud Flaps, Cargo Net, Cargo Cover, First Aid Kit): $518
Taxable Fees: $15
Closing Fee: $449
State IMF Taxes: $500
Non Tax Fees: $52

Out the Door: $49,284

I have spent four weeks fighting with dealerships for the lowest price. Finally found a dealership about 2.5 hours away that quoted me right at $49k OTD. Reached out to my local dealership to match and settled on the above, which was worth it for me to not have to drive all that way. Overall, I'm happy with the deal and excited to get the car!

My wife and I have been sharing a Honda Civic for the past few months, so it was time to pull the trigger. I think I could have definitely saved money by waiting a few months, but ultimately family happiness and convenience needed to win out.

Just got home from Piedmont Honda in Anderson, SC. Couldn't have had a better experience!
Chris Banister was great to work with. I would buy a car from him again.

Elite AWD
  • Selling Price - $53,400.50
  • License Fee $10
  • SC Tax (Capped at max) $500
  • Tag, Title, Registration Fee $17.50
  • Closing Fee $450
Total Out The Door: $54,378

No mandatory add-on's or dealer markup. Price was basically flat MSRP.
Post Production Options - FUNCTION PACKAGE (Included in OTD price)
Cargo Cover, Cargo Net, First Aid Kit

Picture tomorrow after I get it cleaned up from the hour drive home. It was pouring rain so I got to try out the automatic wipers.
Finally got around to cleaning mine. It’s been raining for a bit here and haven’t had a good window of time to care for it until today. I didn’t have to pay the $455 up-charge to get a white one either ;)

Red/Black Elite. 53830 (52030 MSRP + 455 for red + 1345 for d&h) includes splash guards, wheel locks , cargo floor mat thingy. + 444.91 in fees and 3364.38 in TX sales tax (.0625) .
57,639.29 otd

No trade.

Deposit only on an 'in transit' unit allocated to the dealer with a TBD arrival date (estimated 4/1).

I am generally untrusting of such transactions, so hoping for no surprises when it arrives, and we can execute the sale.

Thanks to all prior posters in this thread. Your experiences and willingness to share them helped me a lot.

Gray/Brown Elite on the lot: Invoice: 47421 + 7% profit 3319 + destination 1345 + NO DEALER add ons (at least none that I paid for) --> vehicle price: 52000. + CA Tax/License: 4674 + doc fees: 85 => out the door: 56805. Yes, the dealer actually came back at 52000 (vs 52085)... which is 1375 UNDER MSRP 53375... was surprised they took the offer. figured because I knew their numbers and I allowed them 7% instead of 5%.

I'm happy to join the '23 club!

Sonic Gray Elite
$53,780 ($50 under MSRP)
tax, tag, title
$799 dealer fee
I scored the hitch & harness for free, already installed
No dealer-added accessory packages

Bought from Southeastern Honda in Palm Bay, FL. Made the 1.5hr drive to claim a deal that fell through with another buyer. Right place at the right time.

I have to share with those that can appreciate it, but I am MF hype! at the free hitch. My wife doesn't understand, lol.

Time to prioritize and get the necessary accessories.

Pilot Elite - Modern Steel Metallic/ BLK interior.

Paid MSRP ($53,375 with D&H)

$499 Dealer Doc fee (standard for my area based on quotes from other dealers)

No dealer add-ons required. But I asked for and got wheel locks, all weather mats, and cargo tray for a total add of $180.

Tax and local registration charges not included here, but are standard.

Amazing experience with the dealership I worked with in Maryland.

Also got the 3.9% financing from
Honda which unfortunately was the best offer around for me.

Very happy with the experience.

FWIW - my sense is that the market is in a very weird place. In the next few months I feel that below MSRP will be easily attainable in some markets while other areas will still have mark-ups mandatory due to low (maybe artificially low) inventory. My brother in another state is looking at the same car and said the three dealers in his area all show mark ups of multiple thousand and/or thousands of dollars of mandatory junk add-ons and weren’t budging.

Got mine yesterday in NYC:

2023 Pilot Elite Sonic Grey on Black
MSRP w/ destination: $53,830
“Pro Pack” AKA $300 of accessories: $795
DMV + Dealer Doc Fee: $720
Taxes: 3667
Total OTD: $59,012
$0 down, no trade (plan to sell privately eventually)
$1,330/m

If I had been flexible on color I could’ve done maybe $795 (pro pack) better but my wife insisted on the SG and I really like it too. Also, driving from NJ into NYC saved me on doc fee, NJ dealer wanted $800, NY caps it at $175 so it was basically a wash with the pro pack anyway.

Keating Honda in Conroe, TX.

I am happy to report that there were no surprises and the dealership honored the agreement above when I closed the transaction today. I definitely recommend the folks at Keating in Conroe, TX.

It was an "in transit" unit when I put the deposit down.
original ETA was 4/1, then they said 3/18-3/22. But it actually arrived yesterday. Weird thing is, the same dealer is still waiting for another Elite that was expected to arrive before mine.

I haven't had a red car since my '87 MR2. Maybe its a mid-life, ermmm... 60%-life crisis.

New pilot owner here - picked up our 2023 pilot elite in sonic gray yesterday after some challenges and extensive searching throughout the New York / Long Island region. We wanted the Elite in sonic gray. Some dealers wanted markups and/or some had a longer wait.

Paid MSRP $53,830 for an elite sonic gray including destination. Added a trailer hitch, replacement panel and elite hitch adaptor (all to be installed when parts arrive), added mudguards and cross bars (in stock) and total for accessories installed $1,450. (Paid separately)
Less trade ($30,000) Toyota 4Runner
Add local sales tax on 8.625 pilot less trade = $2,055
DMV, doc fees, tire fee, title = ~$275 total

Financed balance ($26k) through American Honda (they have 3.9 and 4.9 right now on ‘23 pilots). Sadly this is considered good these days.

We’re satisfied with the deal and we love the vehicle so far…only have about 90 miles on it. Definitely takes getting used to not having a body on frame vehicle after having (3) 4Runners.

Odd side note, we had the blind spot monitoring issue some are reporting…just needed to be clicked on by steering whee and all good.

Elite - Blue/Gray
$52,030(msrp)+ $1381 (D&H) + $1170 ( dealer packages - wheel locks, paint protection, tint, mats, etc) +TTL (Texas) =$58K
No trade-in, no financing
I reckon, $1170 for packages is about half the worth, but no trade ins and got the wanted blue.
Got it delivered last week.
Thanks all for posting here, helped me!
