Looking for your opinions on this one...2022 Pilot Special Edition (SE) Lunar Silver Metallic with grey leather interior. The dealer (Sterling McCall in Houston, TX) offered a base of $42,910 plus destination charges ($1,295) protection Package ($1,495) and fees to come out at $47,852. They also wanted to include Service & Protection (interior and glass) for another $1,320 for a total cost of $49,179. That seems pretty steep to me (for an SE). Opinions?
That price of 42910.00 is the sticker price for an AWD Pilot. The FWD stickers for 2000.00 less. Do you need the AWD in Houston? The destination charge is correct and must be added to either the AWD or the FWD sticker. The other protection package and interior and glass service and protection are dealer add ons and profit. Not worth it in my opinion.
If you are thinking about an extended service contract, make sure you check the online sellers such as College Hill, Hyannis, and others as they are some of the best prices you will find. I think around $1400-1500 for 8 year 120000 mile Honda Care with $0 deductible.

Best of luck. I have heard that some Honda dealers have finally stopped adding upcharges and extra fees, and some are even discounting a bit. There is a website which may prove useful to you when shopping for any brand to see what others have found.

My 2022 Honda pilot, just two months old gone to service with 'Emissions System problem'. Looks like honda still not figured out this issue from long long time. If you are in market to buy a honda..check the other thread about the issues
To update on my attempt to purchase a 2022 Pilot...it did not happen. The dealer offered me only $11,000 trade-in for my 2017 Pilot which is in excellent condition (KBB states value at about $21K). When I opted to leave rather than take their offer they tried to dance around the low number by saying is was a mistake as they only used the last 4 digits of the VIN to search their system for a value. This smelled like BS to me so I left. A text exchange the next day has resulted in nothing. I guess they don't need to sell vehicles these days.

$11000 is insane. Not sure what model or miles yu have, but I got a bid for $over $25K from Echo Park for my 2017 EX-L/Sensing AWD with 65K miles and i listed it needed a new windshield (using joinyaa.com). Others were at $22k+.
Lookiing at all of the used listings in my area, mine should be priced around $27.5K retail.
I cannot imagie paying anything over MSRP with a fair trade value at the end of a model's life. all of the excess will depreciate away within 18 months in addiiton to normal depreciation.

With the new 2023 Pilots coming out in Jan or Feb. I would imagine them selling 2022 Pilots with some kind of discount but no luck here in NJ. Has anyone purchased a 2022 Pilot with any kind of discount below MSRP in the tri-state area?

Just went through the process of trying to buy a Pilot in the metro Atlanta area (didn't want to buy a new car, but had to buy a new car). There are a lot of Honda dealers here, and I feel like I contacted almost all of them. They're all doing one of two things; marking the price up $2,000 - $3,000, or adding $2,000 - $3,000 of crap to the car. And they're not budging at all. Only one dealer had Pilots that weren't loaded up with extras and would sell at MSRP, so that's where got my Pilot EX-L. This is easily the worst market for car buyers in my lifetime.

My trade-in was a 2017 with 102,000 miles and in excellent condition. This same dealer is where I bought it and they have handled 100% of the maintenance since it was purchased new. Once I opted to leave, they came be with "it was a mistake" and upped the offer to $21,000, but by that time I was pissed off and more than a little insulted.$11000 is insane. I did finally pull the trigger on a 2022 Pilot EX-L in Pearl White. The final price was higher than I had hoped to pay ($46,500) but they gave me a better trade-in that expected on my 2017 Pilot ($21,350) so my out-of-pocket was just over $25,000. They had the 2023 models on the lot but not much in the way of inventory so there weren't many great deals to be had. This price included some additional coverage for things like broken glass, which is important for me. I replaced the windshield three times on my last Pilot, due to stones that caused cracks.
