Hello I have a 2021 Honda Pilot I was driving 45 mph & all of the sudden I heard a part under the hood break it was a loud boom and then my car went to the right (passenger side) possibly faster then 45 and went on someone’s lawn hit a pole and then the breaks stopped working so it went on and then continued to the other side of street and again the right side (passenger side) hit a guard rail and again went back to the other side of the street and the (passenger side) hit a mailbox and then a tree and continued on and went across to the other side of the street and the (passenger side) hit the guard rail again and then again went to the other side of the street and the (passenger side) hit a bunch of things and finally stopped!
There were community traffic workers on the scene and then police and there were people saying I’m glad your ok and It looks your car was upset, or Jesus your car almost killed you, and another person said thank god you weren’t on a bridge.
A few days later a friend of mine said imagine your kids were in the car and you were on a bridge. Y’all would’ve been all dead in the water. Well she’s not in my life anymore because that’s all I can think of now so every time I think of her I think of my kids being hurt by a car I paid over a thousand a month for. So now im trying to figure out how to feel safe driving and not afraid.
I asked my insurance adjuster numerous times to have it towed back to Mohawk Honda and he told me he couldn’t that it was totaled and he would keep wherever they keep totaled cars. So I reached out to Mohawk Honda and told them about it and they said they would go pick it up and take a look and see what piece it was. The next day I told the insurance adjuster I had someone from Mohawk Honda picking it up too see what happened and then I called Mohawk Honda to ask who the person was and when they would go get the car, and was transferred about 3 or 4 times and nobody had a clue.
However i bought the car just 8.5-9 months before the accident and was sold an extended warrantee for 9k and gap insurance. Then told that I didn’t have any gap insurance and would have to pay the 11k balance that was still owed. So I argued n argued n argued n argued I did have gap insurance I was paying $945 a month because i was sold the absolute best coverage.
I ended the conversation that day and the next day was calling and trying to get to the bottom of it when I got a call from a woman at the dealership that said hey I have some good news I found your gap insurance and you don’t have to do anything else I will take care of it all. Well the next week I still didn’t hear from anyone so I called back and found out the woman was away on some big important meeting so another man got on the phone and told me to come in and pick another car so I did. I picked out a 2022 Honda CRV and told that it was $100 a month cheaper and that the payment a would only be for 5 year contract which was better than the pilot’s 72 month contract.
So I did all the paperwork with insurance to end the pilot and start with my new CRV and I went and picked it up and it was a totally different one it was 2019 CRV and it’s just not comfortable mentally I wanted the bigger one that I would feel more comfortable in. With everything that happened I just went with the flow and wanted the whole process to be done as quick as possible before i ended up having a downpayment or some other issues n i would be stuck without a car being the plan just kept changing.
My goal is to save the next people that this will happen to since I have been reading about this 2021 Honda Pilot issue where they are pulling to the right!
Thank you all for your time and please spread the word so that this won’t happen to anyone else.
Thank you all Sincerely,
Shannon Supernaw
