Been through many posts here mentioning it, but didn't really see any that conclude whether this is a fixable issue or a "they all do that" issue.

I've had the car for 10 weeks now, and never noticed the 3/8" light band around the dimmed area of the mirror until last week. Did this just start happening? It seems to come and go and now I can't stop looking for it. I can usually reproduce the issue by (when the band is present) turning off the auto dim power, and turning it back on. It gradually dims the entire mirror over the next several seconds, and then shortly thereafter the band appears. Drive for bit, 1-30 mins or so, ignore it, look again it's back. Comes and goes. Thoughts ?

Bottom line: Busted, normal/TADT, or repairable ?

I just thought it was because the dimming is like a stripe along the mirror, not completely covering the 'normal' lighting which shows as borders.

Speaking of which..... how can we have the dimming on the left edge of the windshield - where bright lights kill us!
