Drove out for a day trip and while heading back, a notification came up indicating "transmission system problem". It was a Saturday, so I called the dealer enroute. The service person said to pull over and shutdown to reset. I did but the message re-appeared. Thankfully, the Pilot drove normally all the way home.

Dealer ended up replacing the torque converter, which appears to be a common problem for the 2016/2017 model years. The Pilot is less than 3 years old with nearly 27,000 miles. We are disappointed at the lack of quality. Not sure about Honda any longer!

It needed a VCM disabling device right off the lot.
