We have a 2016 Pilot touring model which has been disappointing since day 1. Now with 4000 miles over the warranty limit, the air conditioning has stopped working. I took it to the dealer and they say that the heater core needs to be replaced at a cost of $2000. I've seen a few threads on here which mentioned the heater core problem, but do I have any hope of getting Honda to cover this? Who would I contact?

The other problem is where to take it. The local repair shop can't handle R1234, and I don't trust the dealership to begin with.

Sounds like it’s time to trade it in. For something new. We had a 2016 as well. Bought the hondacare up to 120,000 miles but ended up trading it in at 80,000. Had zero problems with ours, but we were growing tied of it and no longer needed an 8 passenger SUV.

If you don’t was to trade in I recommend taking to an independent Honda repair shop. Dealer prices are crazy high for repairs.
