I just got my 2016 pilot EX-L black, it's a great car and has many features. One of the features is Android 4.2.2. A user should be able to install apk via USB. In the user manual they don't cover where can an user get these apks. I try to install google maps via USB and did not worked. Does anyone has additional information on where can we get some compatible apk for the 2016 pilot?

Does it have Google's Play Store pre-installed? If not, the Android system in the Pilot headunit does not have Google's services framework and the Google maps apk will not work (and most other Google apps). You'll need to find an install of Google's services/framework for 4.2.2 and install that first. If that works, then you'll have the Play store available and can install from there.

Another thread from today has a youtube video of what the hidden android stuff looks like. Unfortunately they rolled through the "All Apps" list pretty quickly....would be nice to see a list of whats in there, its very possible the Play Store is already there.

If its there, I believe you can access it directly through that All Apps list, to then attempt to download the APK.

It might be failing to install because "device is not compatible"....the play store reads a property from a build.prop file on the file system to determine if the device you're on is compatible with the app you are trying to download. If thats the case, only editing the build.prop would fix it, but Im not sure if you can edit it without being rooted (unless maybe the default install is already rooted since its a "pure" Android OS?)
