Fuel Injector Replacement at 45,000 Miles
The dealership service tech said this is a common problem and they were going to refer to Service Bulletin 18-025 for the repair. Apparently the first 33,297 2016 Honda Pilot 2WD's produced and the first 68,026 4WD 2016 Pilots are completely covered for free repair for 15 years or 150,000 miles. Our 2016 Honda Pilot was around the 50,000th off the production line, and it is not covered after 3yrs or 36,000 miles.
My 2016 Pilot has 65,000 miles (purchased in 9/2015) and I just had the same problem. Where did you find the which cars are covered for additional time. The Service Bulletin 18-025 was revise in May 2019. My car certainly has to be in the first produced.
I've lived this problem. The clogged EGR pipe is the proof.I'm glad you figured this out. You need to get in touch with Honda's engineers stat and let them know! Black soot only builds up on the tail pipes of every internal combustion engine ever made.
My advice for your vehicle is the same as above.My 2016 Honda pilot has 76,000 miles and has had the same problems with emissions. I was told by the Honda service tech , that the injectors needed replaced. Even though the code was for the Cadillac converter‘s. I filed a complaint with Honda customer service. The know this is a problem. How do we start a Class Action law suit?? My last Honda.
Hello my friend,I am so frustrated - we are having this same problem and the charges to replace the fuel injectors on my :016 Pilot Elite is $1200. The dealer is being great so far and told me that 61k miles is way too early for this failure. Honda knows this is a problem and changed the manufacturer of the FIs to address it. I’ve spoken to Honda US stove now and they keep telling me that these SBs are VIN specific but you can see clearly in the attached that it says ALL VINs. I emailed this to add to my case and will see what I hear when I get a case manager.

Still scratching my head how a P0430 code = 6 injector replacements. No P0420? No misfire codes?I drive a 2016 Pilot EX. The "Emission Systems Problem" and CEL came on at about 63000 miles last week. Took it into the stealership and they pulled code P0430. They ended up replacing all of the fuel injectors, and sent in a "goodwill" request to Honda to cover the cost $1300. They used TSB 19-072 and Honda ended up covering it under the "emissions warranty" which was 8 years/80,000 miles. CEL and message disappeared after they replaced the injectors.
After the fuel injectors were put in, it feels like the acceleration of the vehicle is a tad bit slower. It's possible that it's just in my head, but has anyone else experienced a decreased acceleration from a complete stop?

I suppose if certain injectors are leaking or clogged on bank 2, the A/F ratio can be off enough to set a P0430, but not enough to cause a misfire.
Note that P0430 applies to the cylinders that do not stop during 3-cylinder mode.
I had the same problem. I filed a complaint with Honda and they basically responded that it is up to the dealership to pursue it through the regional manager (response took weeks-I had already resolved it). I told my dealership to hold off on the repair and they contacted the regional service manager who agreed to have Honda cover all but $100. Even if Honda wasn't quietly covering the injectors under goodwill for 8/80 as they appear to be in some cases, they wouldn't have needed to in your case because New Jersey is one of the 13 states that follows the 7/70 California emissions warranty which does cover fuel injectors. You didn't "hit the lottery" - you simply received something you were legally entitled to.The dealer called me a few hours later and said injectors needed replacing but they were warrantied for 8 years/80k miles (53k on my pilot) I initially thought the service department was mistaken, but they indeed replaced the injectors at no cost without me asking/haggling/fighting or anything. I live in NJ and the dealer was in Manahawkin if anyone is wondering. I've included a copy of service record, my wife and I thought we hit the lottery.
No. Fuel injectors are 3 years or 36,000 miles unless you live in one of the 13 California emissions states where they're covered for 7 years or 70,000 miles.What part can’t you read!!! Fuel injectors are 3 yrs/50k miles
Well I live in Canada, this problem just happened to me exactly as you mentioned, I own a 2016 Pilot touring. Been living with misfiring Christmas lights intermittently for a couple of years. Seems to happen in Colder weather on auto starts but would go away after so many Km's driven. Took the Pilot into our local Honda Dealership after the Transmission was affected just as you said. Dealer told me that All GDI Honda products from 2016-2019 have the same issues with the injectors being defective. Honda is covering the repair up to 220000 km's. They provided me with a rental vehicle for a month as they are back ordered on parts.I've been following this page for months as intermittently my '16 elite would light the dash up like a Christmas tree, including the dreaded emissions system problem code. It would come and go and not wanting to get the injector replacement I lived with it. Then last week, while on vacation, it happened again only this time the transmission system problem light came on and the car was shifting oddly and hesitating quite a bit. Unsure how serious it was I had to get the car towed to the closest dealership and was expecting to pay for new injectors.
