P0430" -powertrain catalyst system efficiency
I have a 2016 Honda Pilot EX that I bought in December of 2015. I currently have 82,000 miles and I have had the emission system error message. The first occurrence was 15,000 miles ago. Fearing further damage I took it to my local Honda dealer as my normal mechanic is over an hour away. They stated I had bad fuel injectors. Being out of warranty I was quoted $1200.00 to replace all the fuel injectors/rails plus labor. I paid the $90 diagnose fee and declined the work. Ironically when I picked up the vehicle the check engine light was off. I immediately took it to my regular mechanic and he said all the codes had been cleared and said to drive it until the code popped back up. The vehicle has been fine until twp weeks when the error code reappeared. I had no impact on drive-ability, idle, gas mileage, etc and continued to drive the vehicle until I could get it back in to my regular mechanic. Ironically after two days the message cleared on the dash. He pulled the P0430 code. During his research he said there is a service bulletin related to this issue and a software update should correct the issue. I will post an update if this indeed solves my issue.
