It seems that from what I've read, the 4WD does not need the tranny cooler, to still get the max tow rating?

I just got this '15 Pilot 4WD, trailer towing, LX model. Really clean- only 64.5K mi!

I'll look again for the tranny cooler. But the way I read the manual- the 4WD doesn't need one, or already has one.

TIA

No you need the transmission cooler. With that said, I do believe that all of the 2nd Gen AWD Pilots came equipped with the ATF cooler. My 2013 came with the towing package and ATF from the factory. The 2WD pilots may or may not have come with the ATF cooler.

Do check for it in front of the radiator to verify that one is installed on your vehicle. If not an ATF cooler is far cheaper than a new/rebuilt transmission.

Right,
this is a 2015 4WD , bought from the dealer with the trailer hitch.
The PO did state that it did not come with the trailer wiring however. He installed the piggy back 4 prong, so it has wiring for light too.
The Owners manual states- well, I took a picture:

Me thinks it already has one. Maybe for the increased demands on the 4WD anyways?

According to the manual, and the fact that it came from the dealer with the hitch- I think I'm good

Now, my 2008 FWD- I installed a hitch, to simply put a bicycle rack on, and 4 bikes, still WAY under 2,000 lbs!
I don't plan to pull any trailers w/o an installed aftermarket tranny cooler. The hell with the PS cooler LOL

Look to see if it has an auxiliary tranny cooler......it would be visible behind the front grill, in front of the a/c condenser. It looks like a small radiator.

This might help ease your mind. As I thought, the 4WD LX came equipped with the cooler. Do verify visually though. Used vehicles have been none to have added items or to loose items with the previous owner(s).

Wow thanks! That vehicle sped page is awesome! You can change the year, model, and gives the standard OEM, etc.

Well, it has been shown on this thread that the 2015 LX 4WD did in fact come with a Tranny cooler. With or without the trailer hitch. Mine is an LX, recently I'm the second owner. I also have the build sheets from the dealer/purchase that this one came to the first owner WITH the trailer hitch installed.

I'm asking if all AWD models came with BOTH, a factory OTW cooler AND a factory OTA cooler. 🤷‍♂️
Sorry for the late answer. Yes, at least the '15 does, in only LX trim too!
