2013 Pilot won't start

I have a 2013 Honda Pilot.

In mid-December 2021, I got an aftermarket remote starter installed at Best Buy.

A few weeks later I noticed that certain things weren't working, most notably, the button that opens the rear door (tailgate) didn't work and I had to open it manually.
At this time I also went to the beach and drove on the sand a bit, maybe a mile or two.

Later on, I had the rear window open, just the window, not the tailgate, and when I went to close it, it shattered. My assumption here is that the glass was cold or maybe that sand got in the arm.
I was able to clean up the glass, cover the window, and get it home. I was able to drive it for about a week and then Safelite came to replace the window except when I cleaned up the glass I threw away the latch and that is on backorder so I can't get the window replaced until that comes in. It then sat for about a week.

All of that is the background for my question. It won't start. The first time I tried it I was able to jump it and drive it around a bit. A couple of days later I tried it again and it was completely dead. I tried jumping it, nothing. I bought a new battery and now the electrical works, radio etc, but even with the new battery it won't start.

What is my next move? What should I test? Should I return the remote starter and ask Best Buy to pay for whatever needs to be done?

I'm fairly competent in that I have watched a youtube video and replaced the rotors and brakes on it, but I don't have any clue on how to diagnose things.

I would reach out to Best Buy and see if they would confirm that everything is okay with their installed unit. Remote starters do typically need to bypass vehicle security systems.

I've had security system/ remote starters that have had relatively high parasitic draw, which is a steady state drain of current. That doesn't explain why with the new battery the vehicle won't start, but might explain why your old battery was dead.

Hopefully someone that's more familiar with the specifics of the pilot remote starter add-ons will chime in.

I was able to get it started and I went to Best Buy and had the pull the fuse on the remote starter for the timebeing. I have an appointment in a few weeks with them to either check the install or pull it out completely for a return. I'm leaning towards return.

99.9% it's a poor install of the remote start, unfortunately I fix them on a regular basis. Being that it was installed not very long ago, I would call them and see if they want to look at it, or want to pay the bill for the dealer fixing it. Does the green key in the cluster flash when your trying to start it?

I do know that there should be no need for a shim and I would not trust one long term. either the terminal end is damaged and needs replacing OR the battery post is junk and the battery should be replaced.
