Seeing a lot of different things about this. I have the Hastings kit.........filter, and pan gasket. I read somewhere that this car has an in line trans fluid filter, but the filter I got with the kit has no housing, so it sure looks like it goes inside the tranny. Thoughts? Thanks

Tranny has to be separated from the engine block to access that filter.

Yep, this is one of those "the engineers knew what they were doing" moments, claiming that this vehicle has a "lifetime" transmission filter. I loose sleep at night knowing I can't replace it. Like you, I bought this Hastings kit from RockAuto hastily. I didn't do my research before hand to know how to perform the job.
This box sits on a shelf as a reminder to do my research before buying parts.

Another reason to use Full Synthetic Valvoline MaxLife ATF in these 5-speed transmissions. It's a little thinner and will flow through this dirty filter easier.
