Hi all,

I have a 2008 Honda Pilot EX-L with about 144,000 miles on it. I use it to tow a small camper, about 2800 lbs total. I hooked up for the first time this year and about an hour into towing I got a check engine light on, the code said downstream O2 sensor problem. I reset the code and drove without the camper and light never came back on. Hooked up to tow again and same thing, hour later the check engine light came on with same code. The vehicle is driving fine, starts right up, runs smooth with no problems or issues, idle is fine, no rough driving. Car sounds great. Any ideas what is going on?

It sounds like the issue occurs when the Pilot’s engine is under heavy sustained load. Do you have a scanner which outputs live data? Might compare sensor levels at normal driving and when you are towing to see if anything jumps out.
