Hi, I’m having an issue with my pilot, I have cel code p1456. It says on my code reader that I need to replace the gas cap. That’s already done I cleared the code , now the code is back. What other issue can it be? Thanks

As crazy as this may sound, how many times do you turn the cap after it clicks home. I had this problem with my 2013 Pilot, under warranty, took it to the dealer, they cleared the code and proceeded to tell me to turn the cap 3 or 4 full revolutions after the cap clicks home. NEVER had an issue again.

Thank you I’ll try that, but I do recall every time I gas up, I over turn the gas cap all the time

Unlike the newer Pilots your ‘04 Pilot has far fewer “nanny sensors” that will trouble you. Clear the code, tighten 3-4 clicks and drive for a while and it should be GTG. Optional: try another gas cap, clean filler neck, clean the gasket on cap with a bit of WD40
