While I was removing the plenum on my 2003 Honda Pilot to do the valve cover gasket, I noticed as I was taking off the cover that it had about a 1/4 cup of oil in it, and these holes at the air tubes going to the intake manifold that had what looks like either a rubber or plastic seal that looks like it was disintegrating, looking like itbisallowing extra air into the manifold and wonder if this is normal. I have a picture of myself holding a bolt showing where the hole is.

They're not seals, they're just carbon deposit build up from the EGR or PCV. It's a good idea to clean those out best you can and underside of the cover is also clogged up with same stuff.

I'd replace the PCV valve and the EGR valve if its it's never been done.
