I don't blame you one bit....
Trust is 99% in choosing a shop..... If you lost trust in that shop, time to walk away and find another mechanic.
Even if another shop suggests the same repairs, at least you'll trust them and sleep better.
We paid $2000 for a full 10yr / 100k HondaCare warranty on our 2019 Touring through our dealer - Folsom Lake Honda in California.
AAA Insurance also offered the same warranty & price, but it wasn't HondaCare.

A dealer can program a new FOB, but if it's damaged, probably not.
I wouldn't buy a 'cheap' FOB from an unknown seller, unless the seller meets you at the dealership and if it re-programs fine, then pay!
