    How would he differentiate the noises? He listened to it with a stethoscope and rotating the tires to a high RPM. He did test drive it a few times.

    The noise is definitely at speeds above 18 mph. I don't know if he checked the transfer case oil, I'll ask him. He has changed the transmission fluid recently.

    Thanks for the info. Mine has push button 4WD so I'm assuming the rear differential only gets engaged in 4WD? I've never changed the front transfer case oil. Do you need to check these fluids when the vehicle is warm?

    I don't think it is coming from the rear, you can hear it coming from the front.
