  1. 2011 Pilot shimmy at 70mph (120 m/h)

    Problems
Sorry you are having bad experience with the car. We're second owners of ours and had it since 2013 and approx. 30K km and have been happy with it. It does have its flaws, though: first time in my life did I have to replace hub bearings at around 70K kms (done under extended warranty, though)...
  2. 2011 Pilot shimmy at 70mph (120 m/h)

    Problems
Thanks, folks! Tires are less than 3 months and have no more than 4000 km on them. Compliance bushings look to be in good shape (and were verified in 2017 during the recall). All new rotors and pads (all around) and calipers confirmed to not be sticking (cleaned and lubed during the last brake...
  3. Main issues on 2011 Pilots, if any?

    2009-2011 Pilot
Front wheel hub bearings. Spool valve leaks. Valve cover gasket leaks. Starter noise. Otherwise fine. Who's selling a 2011 with warranty nowadays? Unless it's a Honda Certified warranty that will cover you for most issues, it's not really worth it.
  4. 2011 Pilot shimmy at 70mph (120 m/h)

    Problems
Experiencing sustained steering wheel shimmy on our 2011 Pilot (around 200K kms/120K miles). Starts just around hitting 70 mph (120 km/h) and stays there. Sometimes does disappear even at the same speeds as well as is less pronounced when letting go off the pedal and more under acceleration...
  5. Timing belt

    2009-2011 Pilot
Just did mine last year with Aisin TKH002. I did a serpentine belt while I was at it and found that a DAYCO was very difficult to install, I've been hearing rumours that aftermarket serpentine belts may be a bit shorter. Will have a chance to try it out, since my spool valve pressure switch...
  6. 2010 valve cover gasket replacement?

    2009-2011 Pilot
Got around to doing it without draining the coolant: just removed throttle body with the hoses still connected to it. Just need to replace a $2 gasket (16176-RCA-A02). Also most people fail to mention it, but for this job you will also need to replace manifold gaskets 17105-RCJ-A01 and...
  7. 2010 valve cover gasket replacement?

    2009-2011 Pilot
@Tahoefever, thanks for the response re: oil, I thought so, but still wanted to double-check. If anyone else wondering like I was - yes, you will need to drain coolant before you do this job. When taking the intake manifold off, once you get to disconnecting "water bypass hoses" you will see...
  8. 2011 EX-L maintenance questions at 120k miles?

    2009-2011 Pilot
Watch for spool valve and valve cover leaks. If not already doing that, Begin checking the hub bearing freeplay. Heater fan bearing chirping. Hydraulic tensioner chirping. Etc. Mine is now around 110K and am seeing all of that. I did the timing belt and water pump 10K miles ago, though.
  9. New Wheel Bearings on 2009 with 120k miles

    2009-2011 Pilot
Both front wheel hub bearings failed on my 2011 at around 60K miles. Both were replaced under extended warranty. That was a first for me, since on all my other cars/trucks the wheel bearings typically lasted around 130K or more. You really only need to replace them if you get excessive play...
  10. 2010 valve cover gasket replacement?

    2009-2011 Pilot
Hi, raising the old thread. Preparing to do the valve cover (aka cylinder head cover) gasket replacement on a 2011 and am not clear whether I should be draining the engine oil and coolant first. Service manual does not specifically state this is required in the removal steps but does go on to...
