Sorry for the long post but if anyone can advise, it's much appreciated.

I couldn't get my 2010 Pilot on Monday. After a jump start I took it to the dealership. They checked it out for ~20 minutes and couldn't find out what's wrong. They told me to keep an eye on it. Later in the night it won't start again, won't crank. I have another car try to jump start again but the alarm went off. No matter what I pressed while the door is closed alarm won't disarm. All the while I tried to start but it won't turn over. Decided to let the alarm go on and left the two cars hooked up. Maybe 2-3 minutes went by and I was able to get the car running. Tuesday morning, car started fine but I brought it back to the dealership. Surprise they couldn't find anything wrong again. They told me to turn off all the inside lights and see what happen. This goes on until Thursday morning and I brought it back. This time, they finally agreed to send the car to the service department (I've been at the quick oil change area all along). While the service department is running another battery test the A/C relay got stuck. They did confirm the battery was bad so replaced the battery without charge (I got a new battery from there about a month back). All in all, they put in a new relay assembly with some freon. Parts came out to $42 and labor $117. They said I need to take the car back again tomorrow because the gas gage isn't working.

Should the ac relay problem be covered since I got the car in April of 2010? I'm not mechanically inclined but I feel like the dealership is giving me the run around and to be honest I question their competency to discover a bad battery on the third visit. I'm also paranoid about them finding "problems" so they can make some extra income.

Thanks

Hello. I am original owner of a 2003 honda pilot with 150k miles. When cornering or slowing down (not having come to a full stop), vehicle just shifts out of drive at around 1000-1100 rpm's. This happens only when rpm's are lowered. When given gas to accelerate, engine just revs. When engine settles down to about 800 rpm, I can resume acceleration, which is smooth through all the gears. No 'check engine' light comes on and therefore no codes. Trans fluid is clean and red and full. I'd like to have an idea of the problem before I take it in for service. Thanks.

Hello Fellow Piloteers,

I have been lurking on this forum for a few weeks now and so glad that I found it as you have been very helpful.

We are starting the purchase process for a 2013 Pilot EX-L w/Nav. Here is where we are in the process and where we need your assistance:

- Test drove at dealer A - no talk of price yet, just test driving
- Test drove at dealer B and was given a quote ( no negotiation yet, just first initial quote which seemed pretty good compared to what I have read on the "Prices Paid" thread

We would like to get some internet quotes from 2-3 other dealers within an hour of us to help compare and negotiate with the more local dealers. My questions are:

- How long are internet quotes valid for ?
- Should we have them include all fees, TTL, Doc, anything else I am missing ?
- Should we tell them exactly what we want, down to the color or just get a quote based on the model ?
- What about add-ons, such as roof rails, all season mats, cargo tray, etc. Should we ask them to include this in the quote or use this at another time as negotiation ?
- Tell them we have a trade in, interested in financing, extended warranty ?

Are we forgetting anything ?

We just want to be sure we have all our ducks in a row and also smart about the purchase process before approaching the dealer with the best price.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance !

I just had my timing belt, water pump, etc. done at a local shop where I bought the Pilot used. This is not a Honda dealership but a locally owned and operated car dealer. I drop the car off in the morning and they always have it ready when we drive by from work that afternoon.

I know many of you do not like to use a shop for repairs, but this one has ALWAYS treated me fairly. They did everything including rotation/balance of wheels and an oil change along with the above work for right at $600.00. From what I have seen on this forum, that's a pretty fair price.

I am at a point in my life that I know what I want to tackle on car repairs and what I don't. The timing belt was one job I did not want anything to do with. I did, however, change all the fluids and change the plugs myself. But those are fairly easy things to do.

If you are in the central Ohio area, I would be more than happy to let you know who this dealer is. They do have a Honda mechanic that works for them. They did an air conditioner compressor on for one of my employees at half the cost the deaelr quoted her. So there still are some credible folks out there.

I am going to be vacationing in Steamboat Springs Colorado (north central) area in the near future and while out there I would like to do some lite off-roading/sight seeing. Rabbit Ear Pass and Buffalo Pass are a couple that I have seen.

Is there anyone that maybe lives in that part of the country or has been out there that owns a Pilot or Ridgeline that might share some trails they think the Pilot can handle. I know the Pilot is much less aggressive than my Explorer and Blazer where so I don't expect to do as much with it but I do think I can go a few places.

I will post some pictures of my adventure when I get back.

Too hot for XM Radio today?

It was an unseasonably hot and humid day in South Central PA today. When I started my 2009 Pilot Touring to leave work, I did my normal "push the Audio button" to get the XM radio display on the screen. The screen stayed black, no sound from audio system. Sitting at the red light I started hitting all the radio buttons and quickly realized AM, FM, and Aux connected to my iPod worked and showed on the display, but I could not get the XM button to do anything. No beep, no display change, nothing. Using voice control to change to an XM radio channel gave 2 negative beeps and nothing.

Being an IT guy, I decided to "reboot". When I got home, I shut off the vehicle and waited 20 seconds then started it back up. XM button worked and music started playing. My stations were there although it took about 5-10 seconds for the preset names to populate.

One time glitch? Loose wires? Will is happen again? We'll see...

Hi all,

Proud new owner of a 2013 Pilot EX-L with Nav, and already have been helped tremendously by this forum. Thanks to all for that.

So I read Scooterboy5's USB drive Primer here http://www.piloteers.org/forums/19-a...tml#post400300 (thanks for that, Scooterboy!!) But I have an issue - I have both a 32GB SanDisk Cruzer and a 128GB Fantom Drives Databank. Both of them cause the display to rapidly blink "Unsupported" upon being plugged in. I figured the 128GB might be too big for the system, but why wouldn't the 32GB Cruzer work?? I took a look in the Owner's Manual, page 275, and it says the USB drive must be over 256MB, and that security lockout software could cause issues (along with some other bullet points that don't apply to me). There's nothing about a MAXIMUM drive size, and I definitely don't have any security software on either drive. Both only have mp3 files on them, nothing else.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks.

The Pilot is my wife's car. it's a 2013 Pilot Touring 2WD. A friend of hers was riding in the second row (group lunch at work) and said they could feel the CV joint through their feet and she needed to get it fixed.

Now, this car only has around 3,000 miles on it. I'm not an expert, but I thought CV joints only existed on FWD cars or 4WD vehicles.

Can anyone help me out? If it has CV joints, can you really feel them just driving around from the 2nd row? There's no popping or clicking sounds or any "clunk" type sound or feel when starting, turnign or backing up. So I'm thinking they were just trying to find fault with her new car.

Hi All:

Somehow, the latch (the metal piece on the door that locks to the other metal piece on the car) on the rear door (not the passenger door, but the rear door) came loose. I can push the metal latch up into the plastic section of the rear door. It looks like it suppose to be screwed into the rear door somehow, but I have no idea how.

The back door will still shut if I slam it, but, it raddles around when I go over the slightly bump in the road.

I can't figure out how to fix it. Anyone ever come across this, or have any idea how to fix it? Do I have to take off the plastic lining on the door?

Thanks, and sorry for the confusing question.
