How many kids have you/can you reasonably fit into a 2013? I know technically there's seating for 8 but I'm curious how many is too many...We only have one child right now but we're planning to expand - the final number TBD.
I love the 2013 Pilot and am desperately fighting my husband for it over an Oddysey. (I know that's totally the opposite of most couples ) My husband thinks even 3 kids in the Pilot would be too squished but I think it would still be fine...am I crazy?

Two per seat (four total) would give them plenty of room until they turn into teenagers. Then you just tough it out until you can take them down to the Recruiting Office at 17 or 18. We were headed for an Oddy until we saw the '12 restyle; after the shock and nausea cleared we fell hard for the Pilot and haven't regretted it.

depends on what kind of car seat they're in.
also on if you'll need to be sitting back there to comfort/feed any newborn. Sent from AutoGuide.com Free App |

The Pilot has the most usable 3rd row of any midsized SUV (that I know of), but the access to the 3rd row can be severely limited depending on what, if any, child seats you have installed in the outboard seats of the 2nd row.

Definitely depends on how many of the kids are in car seats, and what types of car seats. I pretty sure the new Pilots are roomier than my '03, but with my daughter's high-back booster and son's FF convertible seats, there's not room in the middle for another car seat. A simple booster seat could probably fit though.
My wife and I always said if we had a third child, we'd get a minivan. Then our daughter grew big enough to fasten her own harness, or go with just the shoulder belt if need-be, so we figured we'd just put her in the 3rd row. Then my wife never got pregnant, so we didn't have to deal with it. We have rented a couple minivans though, and they are WONDERFUL to have with the kids. They are leaps and bounds more practical than any SUV (unless you need to tow something, of course). More space and better use of it, better ride, better drive, better MPG. And the new Sienna is kinda sharp. (I'm with BATTLESTAR on the new Odyssey -- yuck.)

We've sat 8 adult in ours many times but I wouldn't want to be the middle person in the 3rd row on a long trip (any longer than about 30 miles).

Just remember the downside -if you buy a vehicle that sits 8 and none of your friends has a vehicle that sits 8, you'll alway be expected to drive the groupies around.

2 carseats in the second row and one adult comfortably. One is a baby carseat with the base in the middle and one is a Britax Pavilion behind the driver's side. The 3rd row isn't used because a stroller takes up most of the room. This is for an '12 Pilot.

My wife and I had the same conversation. While I love the pilot, if I could do it over again I would. We have a toddler in a britamax, and a 6 week old in a maxi cosi. I have them installed on the left and right rather than 1 in the middle. I was unhappy with how the bases sat in the middle seat. That makes getting in the third row a skimmy over a carseat then hop over a seat back. Also keep in mind with the third row up, you lose a ton of storage space. Good luck.

Live kids: 4 comfortably.
Dead kids: 20-22, both rear seats down, stacked like firewood.
