To charge extra for something that is listed as standard equip. sounds like fraud to me & should be against the law. Thanks for the leads. I am going to look into every one of them.

When i leased my 2012 touring, the dealer tried to sneak in a $500 charge for laser vin eching( which they did for their own insurance reasons). I negotiated a touring, no dealer extras to a price i was happy with and only when presented the final lease agreement did this charge show on the sheet as the only extra on it.

They tried to tell me it was manditory and i apologied for taking up their time and i walked out.
Got the call in 10 mins but at this point "waving" a BS charge wasnt enough, so i asked for a meeting with the dealer principle.

After a 1 hour meeting, i got an additional $1000 off the base price and ended up paying substantially less for this new 2012 vs the 2010 lease i was bring back ( it helped alot that lease rates where dirt compared to 2 years ago).

The moral of the story is when a dealer tries to pull a fast one, call them on it and push, cause they know what they did in this case was dishonest and potentially against the automotive protection act ( an Ontario sub-section of the consumer protection act) and they would get fined.

Default Add-Ons = Dealer Fluff

My 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD had $1,699 worth of dealer add-on's including pin stripping, wheel locks, rear rubber storage protector, door edge guards, etc. Told them I didn't need or want any of their add-ons, especially athugely inflated prices. In the end, I agreed to give them $200 for the lot ... because I wanted the 4WD EX-L and there were only two in stock in the Dallas metroplex.

Dealers try to get huge profits on add-on's and extended service plans. Don't negotiate on these until you've researched internet pricing (Bernardi's is a good source, but there are others). I'm still debating on whether or not to get an extended service plan ... I know, on average, they don't come close to paying for themselves ... still $1350 or so buys a lot of piece of mind for an 8 year / 120,000 plan.

Mine had the extra cost wheel locks for $150.00. I told them I didn't want them at that price. The best wheel locks in the world cost $19.95 retail or $9.95 on Amazon.

They removed the charge but left the wheel locks. It actually costs them more to remove them and then what are they going to do with 'used' wheel locks.

I specifically didn't buy again from my local Honda dealer because of this BS. Their Pilots all had the cargo mat ($160.00), wheel locks ($160.00) and roof rails ($650.00) added on to each vehicle. They would not remove them or deal on price.

The dealer in the next town got my business because they gave the best price, no mandatory options and apparently free wheel locks. I just got my first of a lifetime of free oil changes and they are still the best.

I ain't nebber goin' back to Maggie's farm no mo.

Our 2013 came with wheel locks at no additional charge. Mudguards are standard equip. Our dealer also does free oil changes @ no additional cost and provides free loaners. They will also wash/vacuum if you want them to.
