Default Thinking about buying a Pilot

Pay attention to the posts on this site. If you luck out and get a good one then good for you. Before you lay cash on one of these POS, go see Explorer. Best, CB

We looked at the Explorer but have read horrible reviews about MyFordTouch, and couldn't get one without it. I don't think there is a perfect SUV but the Pilot is as close as it gets for my family. Your results may vary.

Just trying to save you all some grief. If yours develops that driveline shudder you'll wish you had your ass in a better vehicle. A cousin has two Acura MDX with no problems and many miles. Best, CB

My 2010 ex-l had this problem at about 20,000 miles. It is annoying I will see if my 2013 touring will fair better

6 years driving a Pilot without an issue, so I had no reason to look elsewhere. So far, I am quite pleased with my new '13 EX AWD. But if it disappoints me, I will be looking elsewhere for my next vehicle. I have so far noticed nothing wrong driving on and off the highway, no shudder of any kind - though I find that green 'eco' light annoying.

Had a 2005 Pilot Ex and got rid of it to get a Tundra Crewmax....we missed it so much we went back to the dealer and traded our truck in for a 2013 Honda Pilot Ex AWD. No issues what so ever. In fact it has alot more goodies in it than our 05 Ex AWD did.

The Explorer looks nice but my brother has not been at all happy with his....also we test drove the New 2013 Pathfinder...it's more like a Subaru wagon on steriods. It drove nice, the seats were the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in but it was alittle loud, didn't have the SUV look or driving characteristics, and both vehicles similarly equipped got the same MPG but the Pathfinder cost a few thousand more. Easy decision since we owned a 05 for 5 years and never took it in for service or any warranty issues....not one!

Don't do it before comparing to the new Nissan Pathfinder. Don't get me wrong, I love Honda products, on my 10th in 25 years (2011 Touring), but this latest Pilot is by far the worst of the ten. Test drove a 2013 last week and the VCM shuddered just as mine does. If the trade in were better on the Pathfinder, I would've traded it in. Good luck, but keep in mind, the shudder/vibe you feel on the test drive through the wheel, gas pedal, and seat, IS NOT the pavement as many of us disappointed owners have now learned.

There are hundreds of thousands Pilots sold every year.

Sorry you got a "bad one" but on forums you will hear more bad than good. If things were that bad, they would not sell like they do and continue to. Period.

Those with trouble come here to feel better by expressing their anger, and may be for help and feedback. But count the number and multiply by 2 or 3 to factor those not reporting the issue. Then compare this number to the quanitiy sold in just one year. The percentage hardly registers. And the reality is, every OEM deals with "bad" units. Every, single, OEM. Man nor machine is perfect.

And then there are other people on forums who are here just to stir the pot, called Trolls. And I'm sory to say, but your posts are difficult not to lable this way.

Both car you mentioned are 4WD not AWD unless it's a Acura! It's day and night to compare together!!

The problems with my Pilot didn't start until after 3300 miles. I'm not talking about the slight bump you feel when it changes from 3 cylinder to 6 cylinder operation and the active engine mounts. I'm talking about the shudder in the driveline like it has a bad bearing or a problem with the torque converter. And sometimes when stopping it will shudder like the torque converter won't release.
And let me tell you something Mr. Rincon, I'm just here trying to help out before I sign off for good. I just traded that piece, and I don't need any of your BS so GFY. To the rest of you , Best, CB

Im right there with you CB56. My pilot had been acting up since about 1000 miles. Had it in to the dealer twice and they did nothing. Car would thunk in and out of gear, shudder at will, my seat would slowly lower, and the cup holder tabs disintegrated after 6500 miles. Four of the 5 months I spent with that car were absolutely horrible. I walked away from mine this past saturday and could not be happier.
This forum is deplorable at best. It is marauded by a bunch of jackasses who are not very intelligent. Half of them do not even have the same pilot that most of us are complaining about. They have older versions which seem to have been a much better vehicle. Honda is just not building the same quality vehicle they used to. I would really like to meet the dim witted people on here who have insulted myself and others with your comments. Goodbye Piloteers and good riddance!
