Hello everyone, I just purchased a new 2012 pilot and have been told it has the active headrest system. When we inquired about getting the headrest DVDs, we were told that it was not possible due to this. Can someone shed some light on what this is and if that statement is actually true? We want to get the same kind of replacement headrest DVD system, that was in our 2011 accord, but I am a little gun-shy right now.
Also, we have been told to just get some tablets or iPads and use them. Is that even practical, considering you would have to burn ever movie you wanted to see to itunes. Puzzled?! Thanks in advance for your help and info. v/r JD |

The cheaper ones $600 and less wont work.
There are some that will work, but cost around $1200-1400.... Those who spend less.... aren't getting the protection form the active restraint headrests. Best Buy told me it was illegal for them to install ones that aren't compliant. headrestvideo.com DVD Headrest Video Picture Gallery - pictures of custom headrests with built-in DVD players |

Aftermarket headrest DVD system Here's how it works: 2012 Honda Pilot - Features - Driver's and Front Passenger's Active Head Restraints Using aftermarket headrests (and those with DVDs) will make the system useless. It might work if the bars are long enough and bent/curved similar to the OEM.

The shape of the headrests, specifically that they angle so far forward, is one of the few things I really dislike on the Pilot. Really frustrating design flaw.

Well, it seems that replacement headrest w/DVDs are out of the question. All I have been able to find are Rosen DVDs & Visualogic DVDs and they are attached onto the headrest post. Has anyone done this and if so, could you send me some pics? I have searched for pictures to atleast get an idea of what they are going to look like, but nothing. I am not too convinced on this attached concept. Please let me know. Thanks.

I was able to adjust the headrest 2 inches back. on both front seat. Without making your seat move all the way back. I will take some photos next time. Now my head is comfortable !

Do this at your own risk. Active headrest system may not properly work.
Slightly straighten the curved metal with a hammer, banging on the opposite side. On the floor using a wood so you wont destroy your floor .Dont worry you will not break the metal. Hammer the post over 50-100 times making it equal to the other side. Adjust the angle per preference. Mine is just about straight. Enjoy the comfort of your head. But for safety dont ask me.
