Just bought my wife a 2013 Exl. She wants some steps for her and the kids. Don't want to spend 350 plus if I don't need to. My question is what brand of aftermarket looks and functions the best. She wants black not chrome. Thanks!

I would go w/ steelcraft bars. There's always 15% off coupons floating around for autoanything.com. I got them and they were fairly easy to install and have been working great.

I second the steelcraft from auto anything. I got the black bars for my black pilot. Looks good, works perfectly, and at a good value. Too me about 45 minutes to install.

NELLIE55....
I would ask the members that bought the steelcraft 3" bars how close to Pilot or how far out they are from the Pilot's body? The reason I say this is because when I bought a set for my 2005 Pilot they mounted so close to the body they were unusable. They became more of a chin bruiser and good for appearance rather than usable steps. They were very easy to install and looked nice. Perhaps ask for some pictures. Again, I am 6'3" with a size 11 shoe and it was hard for me to put my foot on the step without hitting the bottom of the body. My wife got so pissed at the steps because at her height (5'3") she needed them but also was frustrated with the steps. Just my 2 cents. Jim

ArmyStrong is somewhat right. I have them on a 2012 and I never use them (5'10"), but it's not that they're too close to the body, it's just that it's not that hard for an adult to get in/out of the car - although the back of my leg does hit them getting out.
However, my wife (5'5") uses them to get in (not sure about getting out), and my kids use them to get in/out (9,7,4). |

Hello...newbie on here. I have a 2013 EX-L. I just installed Aries 4" oval side bars, purchased from carID. I don't really like how they look on the car. There is about a 3 1/2 inch gap between the body of the car and the side bar. They seem to stick out too far. I've contacted carID to find out from the manufacturer if this is by design. Perhaps I should have went with the 3" Steelcrafts as well.
