Default 4WD Noise?

I have a 2012 EX-L. I finally got to test the 4WD system since it's been snowing here in PA.
Whenever I go up my steep driveway and the tires start spinning the front end seems to shutter. Sounds and feels exactly like the ABS when it's activating. Is this normal?

I kind of expected the 4WD to more aggressive. Even with it in diff lock mode it does seem like it's driving the rear tires to much.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

VSA....working to control wheel spin. See page 533 in the owners manual or search the forum for more info. Low and Slow (gear and speed) will allow the VTM-4WD to work at its optimum performance.

Turn off VSA and have at it, you probably won't get the shuddering or the noise. Just engine revving and tires spinning!

Find an empty parking lot turn off the VSA and turn on VTM-4 lock, crank the wheel and hit the gas, the resulting donuts will tell you a fair amount of power is going to the rear wheels.

This is a Ridgeline, but same VTM-4, awesome donuts! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZirChXVU_xM

vtm4 lock doesn't work in every gear! Read up on its operation in the owners manual!
