Default Heated Seats Problem

Back in november 2012 we got a 12 EX-L 4wd with RES and so far it’s been GREAT. Awesome comfort, power and ROOM for everything.

However, until recently we noticed that as weather got colder; sometimes the heated seat would not work. Car would start fine. All other electronics (AC/RES/RADIO/Lights) work fine but the buttons for heating would stay off.

This gets solved after turning off the vehicle and turning it back on. I’ve tried to give it a couple seconds before actually starting the engine but it doesn’t help. Its only happens every now and then but mostly after it’s been off for a while.

Anyone seen this problem? I don’t want to take it to the stealer ship if I don’t have to. Appreciate any comments you may have.

You bought an extended warranty... but you don't trust them and don't want to ask them to fix it?

Id say more like haggle for it. Im just wondering if its an easy fix. I work on my vehicles all the time. I know no stealer ship technician will pay attention to detail more than an owner. If i can fix it and know more about my vehicle in the process, awesome; BUT if the problem its too expensive to repair(and at some point it will be) and i cant do it = extended warranty!

Defective Light bulb? i forgot to write that both driver and passanger wont light up. i have to check if its just the lights on the seat heater push buttons that stop working or the seats too.

Sounds like my wife, sometimes turns on and sometimes turns off, even with pre-nup still afraid to act on it.

Check the fuse, maybe it is loose or even the wiring behind the switch. I had my wife get checked and it was a fuse, and was getting loose, now she's ok.

Default I have exactly the same problem with the heated seats

I'm brand new to this forum. Picked up a 2012 EX-L black with tan interior in October. Seat heaters don't work occasionally- exactly as described. Not just the lights - definitely no heat either. Switch off and start again, and it's all good. Just haven't bothered to take it to the dealer yet - plus I like to know what it needs before I go in if possible.

Thanks.

I had the same problem as “Don’s Pilot” last winter. I took it into the dealer and they ended up having to replace the seat heater button and the entire driver’s seat heating unit.

New to this forum: joined to research recent problems switching on seat heating. Same issues as noted above. Can't be a fuse problem because the lights on buttons would never come on if there were a bad / blown fuse. Has anyone else discovered or had any electrical shorts diagnosed in either the switch mechanism or heater elements?
Any updates / suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks. TJT2012

Just got my 2013 Touring. Seat heaters turn on when I'm on a call using the cars Bluetooth. The button light or switch shows "off", but the seat heats up like its on. Only when I'm on a call??????

Phone sex just makes it feel like the seat is heating up. I think I saw that in the manual somewhere.

I just got my 2013 EX-L with Nav and the seat heater seems to come on at random. Switch shows off and of course the dealer can't replicate it. It got a little warm yesterday and it was miserable!
