Just posted a reply in the "hesitation" forum and came across this vcm thread.Pardon me while I vent. My 2012 Touring with 11,000 miles has;
1. the same shudder when the cylinders shut down like all the rest of you. plus' 2. my rear drive shaft has an annoying vibration at 40-45 mph. 3. the active noise cancel makes this "state of the art?" 600 watt radio sound like a cheap one. 4. and my rotors are warped already ( my 04 pilot had 140,000 miles and I never touched the rotors.) Honda thinks I'm nuts! and I get the character of the vehicle response. Hope this posting helps us out somehow. ps I also have had that "starter run on" like some have written about. |

Bumping this thread. Anyone have any new news on this topic? I'm taking my 2012 in for it's first oil change soon and want to make sure I list everything I should have the dealer do while it is there...
Anyone figure out how to turn off the VCM? I'm going to try the D3 trick around town and see if it helps. |

No one has an update yet,sorry. D3 will surely make the car drive nicer and smoother like how its suppose to be but you can't be driving on D3 on all situations and D3 is not the right and proper cure for the shudder problem. You can ask them (dealer) again but I don't think they care. Good luck.

Well we have been back and forth with the dealer a couple of times. They say its normal. It seems to be getting worse especially in the cold weather. I have also noticed when I am slowing down to stop it feels as though the transmission is trying to catch up with slowing down and thuds. I believe someone should write this up and we as a team should sign and send it to Honda head quarters and then maybe they would looknintonthis issue. I love my Pilot, but this concerns me when it finally is out of warranty and something does happen with the tranny.

Piloteer members had been very helpful most of the time although some gets irritated when you post negative issues about the car (calling us whiners).Anyway,good luck to all members and more power to Piloteers. |

being totally disgusted with the shudder, i've taken my 2012 Pilot in for third time (7k) miles and they have finally admitted their is a shudder that shouldnt be present. Dealership is going to replace all motor mounts. supposedly the mounts are not firm and when the motor is at cruise speed there is movement in the mounts creating the shudder. This might explain why when accelerating and decelerating the issue goes away..I dont think this is the issue, however i will post and let everyone what the result is..

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I am on my 6 month of ownership of a 2012 Pilot. This is my first Honda and there was some getting used to. I hear a "dragging chain" like noise from the Transmission but apparantly that is Normal according to many post on the web and Honda Techs. I do agree that Honda's are more noisier than the Toyotas. Overall, I got over that noise issue. I did not experience any rough noise from from VCM. Normally there should be a small noise but nothing to worry about. There was a shudder initially from changing gears but I am told that is because the motor mounts aren't set yet. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. Will definitely consider another Honda again.
