I'm pretty sure this issue has been brought up before but I don't know how to search for it. When I put "ac" or "a/c" in the search field, I get an error.
Anyway, our weather has been pretty hot and I've been using the AC.... I can clearly hear a loud humming/buzzing noise coming from the engine area every time the compressor kicks in or recycles. On a hot day, if the AC has been on for more than 30 minutes, I can hear the buzzing noise come and go like every 15 seconds. I'm pretty sure every car makes this noise but it is more annoying because the noise frequency is much higher compared to others and it hit your ear drums more distinctively. Very annoying... What is this noise and how can we fix it? Is there a fix to this? |

There was another thread on this a bit ago, and yes the 12's are louder than the 11's.
I had a 11' and got a '12, you can definately hear it more but with the radio on at a stop I cannot notice it. Without the radio you can heard it while stopped but not once underway. I don't believe anything is wrong with the car. |

I hear it quite often and its very annoying. The other day me and my wife heard it and felt really weird, coz we were just pulling it out of the garage for the first time of the day.

So are we supposed to just deal with the problem by turning on the radio? I'm pretty sure this problem has been reported. I wonder if Honda has a working solution because it seems like it is an annoying issue...

I have had this problem since purchasing the car in January and since I am in SoCal - I am always running the a/c. I have written about it in other threads but the summary is that I have had it in to be fixed 4 times without success. After a Honda field rep came to look at car and try to fix as well, I was referred to Honda's mediation department where I have been stuck for the past 3 months! They know it is a problem, say that the engineers are working on a fix (last I heard from them, they said they were thinking it was coming from clamps or brackets in the power steering- I think). I think the response has been pretty lame and slow - I have had 2 30-day follow-ups with them and the story is the same - still working on a fix. Not impressed with Honda on this at all. Dealership has been completely unhelpful too.

They say clamps and bracket from ac huh? Did they say specifically which bracket? I ask this cause my AC compressor has just been replaced last week and now I'm hearing it. Never heard it before until it was replaced.

been there & noted my problems already...i'm linking you to 2 other threads on this topic that you can read through...i've also spoken with "skd" via PM's, and it seems she's dug into this pretty far...i'm awaiting a solution that's presented to her before going any further myself...just trying to ignore the issue in the meantime
Question/help: Why is my A/C compressor making a loud noise? Numbing Vibrations from Steering Wheel

Hello,
Just wanted to find out if anyone has gotten resolution from their Service Dept. on this issue. We have a "new" 2013 Pilot Touring 4WD (dealer demo) with 4200 miles on it. Took it for an inaugural road trip and love the car... --BUT-- when sitting/idling at a stop light or in Park in a parking lot, I noticed the AC compressor buzzing/droning sound right away... cycles every 15-20 seconds or so. Brought it to the dealer after its first oil change/tire rotation, and had the "Master Mechanic" check it out... they couldn't find anything "wrong." However, I sat in a brand new 2013 Pilot EX-L for several minutes idling, and didn't hear the noise at all. I'm planning to bring it back to the dealer and ask them to call the Honda Tech Line, but I'd love to be armed with more info ahead of time so they will take this seriously. --Jennifer 2013 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD, White Diamond Pearl w/ Gray interior |

It goes away on its own in my experience.
It happened to both my 2012 Accord and 2012 pilot about 1000 into their lives. Shortly after its gone, Accord around 5k and Pilot around 3k. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com Free App |
