Question Any Cincinnati Area Pilot Owners?

Looking for any Cincinnati Area Pilot Owners? I have only seen 2 or 3 on the road here...I bought mine at Performance Honda where I had to take one on the floor that had many overpriced dealer installed options....it was either that or order one and wait 2 months...Our other family car was broke and we have a planned vacation last week of July, so I went ahead and overpaid........

The one I choose is a Havasu Blue EX-L MSRP 30,980, but check out how they "took" me on the options -

Entertainment Package (DVD and VHS) - 2,995
Running Boards - 673
Fog Lights - 581
Day-Night Mirror - 379
Crossbars - 235
All Season Mats - 119
Cargo Tray - 89
Mudguards - 61
....brought total to 36,112!!!

Let me know if there are any other Cincinnati area owners who had a similiar experience at Performance Honda or elsewhere....

Welcome sgsander !

As long as you are happy about the vehicle and knowingly and willingly paid over MSRP, you should not feel too bad. I guess you felt the price over MSRP on the vehicle and accessories was worth it rather than wait. To each his/her own.

Nevertheless, you are going to enjoy the Pilot, which is the most important thing. Congrats.

Default cinci area

I must have been in the right place at the right time. I mentioned in an earlier post that I had been pursuing an MDX, until I read about the Pilot coming out in June. My family was travelling the first two weeks of June, so it was well into the third week before I made it to Don Jacobs Honda, here in Lexington. I have a reserve on a Taffeta White with factory RES due in any day. In addition to no forced options, the dealer is willing to find a trade, (wife prefers the Havasu Blue.) Again, no forced options. Don Jacobs is not the biggest player in the Cinci-Lexi-Louisville triangle, but a good one. This is the second car we have purchased from them in the last three years and both experiences have been good.

Default Peformance Honda

I ordered my Pilot from Performance Honda in Cincinnati (took delivery 06-03-02) and paid MSRP with no forced add ons . I believe they would sell you an inbound model at MSRP. You can't fault the dealers for putting add-ons on models that are not pre-sold. Just my opinion.

Talking

I'll wave to any Pilot driver I see on the road in Cinci! We bought our SS EX Pilot off the showroom floor with many dealer add-ons at MSRP plus accessories. We had a choice between it or an identical one with no accessories that they were using as a demo at MSRP. We chose the showroom model because it had not been a demo and we simply liked all the accessories. Bought at Honda East in Beechmont.

I'm from the Cincinnati area (Alexandria is about 25 minutes south down I-471 then US 27) but I had to go to Louisville to get my pilot. My story went like this, I "discovered" the Pilot via the web on July 20th, read everything about it that I could for 2 days, called all the dealers in this area and only 1 (Wyler in Florence) even had one to look at, but even it was spoken for. I took a look, knew I had to have it, and began making some calls. I checked Dayton, Columbus, Lexington, Frankfort, and Louisville. The only place that had one was Louisville and by a bizzare coincidence it was pretty much exactly what I wanted, an Evergreen Pearl EX-L RES with side steps. The only thing it had that I didn't want was the $500+ backup sensors. The salesman at Swope said "the holes are already in the bumper so I can't remove them, but I just won't charge you for them." That was pretty nice of him considering he didn't have to budge on it, given the market for the Pilot. I told him to put my name on it and I would be down the next day. I took Tuesday, July 23rd off of work, drove my old '96 Intrepid down (they gave me exactly what I wanted for it) and drove the Pilot back home. Paid MSRP + 499 for the side steps, and again the backup sensors were free. The next day, I went back to Wyler and picked up the cargo tray and the rear mud guards.

I work downtown in the Carew Tower and cruise all over Northern KY. If you see an EP EX-L RES with a handsome driver, woman in the passenger seat with mouth moving rapidly, and two kids in back drooling over a Disney movie, just honk. It's probably me!

I am a proud Sandstone EXL-res Pilot owner. I even work at Performance Honda! I can tell you that you did not over pay for your Pilot. You just paid MSRP with added accessories at the price all the dealerships in the area charge. You should be happy that there was a Pilot available that you could purchase without waiting 1 week - 4 months as some have. I take pride in my dealership because we do not overcharge. In fact I could give you names of local Honda dealerships that require people to pay for a "protection package" at a cost of $895! We sell it, but give you the choice. PLUS, you can't beat the free automated car wash. I have bought many cars in different states, I have never ran across a dealership that allows you to wash your vehicle as often as you like at no cost! Welcome to the Performance Family!

If it will make you feel better, I paid MSRP for my Pilot. (with this vehicle, there are no such things as employee discounts) Even so...I leased it and lowered my payment in comparison to my '99 Exploder lease. If we receive an available vehicle, we will install accessories so that people don't have to look at a book to see what features they may want. If some one would like to buy it, congradulations! Your an owner

As far as being a group of Pilot owners, maybe we should figure out how many are local and plan an outing. I have been looking for a good reason to do some tailgating! Not to mention, I am always looking for excuses to drive!

You can't miss me, I'm driving the Sandstone EXL-res with the wife and two kids quiet as a mouse in the back seat!

Question

Would like to know if any Cincinnati area Pilot owners are in to mountain biking. I would like to find some people to ride with once in a while. I'm definitely not a "hardcore" rider, but I enjoy intermediate trails. Let's load up the Pilots and go!

Default Re: Looking to buy

It reallly isn't the pricing that has left a less than pleasurable taste in my mouth about Performance, it is more the attitute I experienced....and frankly continue to experience coupled with the qualtity issues of the vehicle overall.....I am having a hard time understanding how the service department has had me waiting for weeks just to get a replacement piece for the luggage rack that fell off in that great carwash you mention....In addition the VCR in the back blew out and I want to have everything repaired at the same time so I only have to bring it in once.....Service is saying they have to send it back out to the people that installed the DVD player to look at it.....saying the same thing about the saggy leather seats that I want fixed...and I have a rattling noise that comes and goes....last time I brought it in to Service to have fog lights installed, I had to pay $20 to get a rental...now I know that is not a lot of money, but when the dealer is doing work that will take more than a few hours, and fixing things that are not my fault, shouldn't they provide a car for free?

Anyway, on the sale, I understand that Performance only did what everyone else is doing and heck, I was willing to pay, so I can't fault them for that...I am fearful though that my-post sale experiences may not be up to the level that I had hoped for.......This is my first Honda and I am disappointed with the quality and level of Serive on a 36k vehicle......

Enough complaing, (I really don't like to complain because I am a sales manager and I hear complaining all day long), I still have hope that maybe these are just "initial" annoyances and that the Pilot will be a great SUV for me and my family for years to come.....

Casanewt - I do own a mountain bike but rarly ride it anywhere but in the neighborhood where I live...(West Chester)....let me know where some good "mild" trails are in the area....I do play a lot of Tennis and raquetball and am always looking for new partners......

There are a few sounds that seems to be surfacing with various owners. There are some with proper fixes and some still checking it out. Please check the different threads for a similar sound.

As for the service, please contact your sales person. Performance Honda has a free loaner car program for warranty repairs 3hrs or more/ $200 parts and labor or more. You should not have had to pay for the rental going off the information given.

I have been going through the car wash since my employment here 1+ years back. I do know that things happen, but I have had no problems as of yet.

The aftermarket DVD/VHS system carries a 3yr/36k warranty through them, not Honda. The leather however, is Honda. Going off the other threads, the saggy seat condition is new without any real idea on proper fixes.

Over all, for a new model, I feel it is on the mark and hope that you feel the same.

Brought home my Black Pilot EX-L from Jeff Wyler Honda. The Dealer forced a Protection Package and asked how much I will pay. I told them I do not want any protection. But, the Sales person was very arrogant and kept on insisting on the package. Then they said they will add wheel locks and a Cargo tray. Eventually, I ended-up paying $ 149.00 Over the MSRP ($ 30,980) got Rear Splash guards, Cargo Tray, Wheel Locks and the Protection Package (Do not understand what this covers).

The Attitude of the sales man has lot to be desired. I complained to the Manager and manager shrugged off saying sales man has not done any thing wrong. So, I assured the manager I don't want to see their faces again and will not bring my Pilot for servicing there either.
I took my 97 Heather Mist Accord for servicing to Century Honda. The service was good and they did a pretty good job. I am contemplating weather to take my Pilot also to Century Honda when time comes for service (Did not like Performance Honda Service center. That is a different story...)

Default Good Experience @ Superior Honda

I took delivery of a White EX from Superior last week. Salesperson was Anne Marie Viets. They are selling at MSRP with no forced add-ons. This was my second purchase from her (99 Accord). I also recommended her to a co-worker and they have bought two vehicles (Accord and Civic) from her since '99. I have also had all service done there for my Accord and I plan the same with the Pilot. No issues with the service dept. I recommend the salesperson and dealership.

This is very concerning to me since I have a Silver EX-L Navi on order with JW. I will not pay for anything extra that I don't want. Did you try to walk away (as hard as that would be?)?
