I have a 2009 Honda Pilot. The rear liftgate latch will not work, cannot open.
One time it worked then all the sudden will not work. When pressing on the liftgate back switch button it is hard and does nothing. Have had to go to inside and use manual release. Any ideas or Help diagnosing would be appreciated. Thanks |

I have a similar problem - common on 09s. There was a tech bulletin on the issue. You need to replace the handle switch (around $30) although I found one on eBay for $17. Waiting for a "warm" day to install the new part.

Thank-you for the info slione. Any hints on best place to get replacement parts. I am sure Honda Dealer will want high $$ for part.
Very curious how working one minute then not the next. |

My pleasure. If you were asking me about Volvo or classic Beetle parts suppliers I could tell you but my Pilot hasn't broken yet (other than this tailgate issue) so I dont' have personal expereince. Looking around threads on this site it appears these guys are recommended: Acura Parts | OEM Acura Parts | OEMAcuraParts.com
Go here and it's Part #54 on teh diagram: TAILGATE for 2009 HONDA PILOT $26 MSRP is $34. You'll need a right-angle/offset phillips (e.g. 1 in. Slotted Head and Phillips Head Offset Screwdriver-74356 at The Home Depot) Good luck! Steven |

So I broke down and took to dealer for diagnosis. They said that it was in the computer as the battery had went bad and when replaced it had not reset the rear door latch. They had to hook it up to computer and reset, works perfectly now. Who would have thought.
They only charged the diagnosis fee of $50.00 as there was also 2 recall items that needed attention, minor did all at once. |
