Default Just hit 100K

FYI -- Just hit 100K with an 09 Touring. Been pretty much the most problem free car I have ever owned.

The only issues I have had are the warping/deposits on front brake rotors and wheel shake on acceleration at speeds above 50mph.

Other than that this car fees like it will easily make another 100k. Knock on Wood!

Thanks for sharing .

One question is your Pilot driven mostly hwy or city? And what MPG do you get ?

Fairly even mix between highway and city. I'd say maybe 60 percent city and 40 percent highway. Approx 18-20K miles per year. My gas mileage has been at approx 16-18 city, 20-22 highway with avg speed approx 75. I also do not spare the throttle. When I baby it by slow acceleration and keep it at 60 on highway I can get 19 city and about 24 highway. I don't track it too closely, but when I do look it is usually hovering around 17.

I am right behind you at 98,500 on my 2009 Touring. I have not had any problems just routine service. It sounds like we will both require the 105,000 mile service soon which can be expensive. I plan on doing some of it myself but I will probably have someone do the timing belt and water pump. I also wonder if checking the valves is necessary per the manual. It cost a few hundred to do and I really question if it needs to be done.

I have questioned that cost as well. Timing belt, water pump and valve clearance is being quoted at about 1500 for me. Seems like alot -- and it probably is overpriced -- but it is a pretty involved job. I figure that since this is an interference engine and I am still covered under Hondacare for another 25K, I am going to have it done at the dealer. That way they can't use the typical warranty denial excuses they usually trot out -- if I even have a catastrophic failure in the next 25K.

As to the valve clearance issue -- I want to err on the side of caution and have them do it. I want this car to last me to 200K. Also -- the back bank of cylinders near the firewall look like a complete PITA to get to.

Just got a service coupon from my local dealer for TB, WP, drive belts and coolant for $389.98 (tensioner if needed is $75 extra). Good till end of March. It was an everyday deal, but now seems to be and on/off again deal. I am at 73K, maybe I'll get it done early. Wish I knew what the frequency of this deal will be moving forward...cheers.

Heck of a good price.

It is not a matter of the tensioner being needed, like the water pump, it is proactive replacement.

What is the name of your dealer? I think most of the dealers in my area will match coupons.

If you are close....i would call them and see if they will do it....doesn't help you if you are trying to have your local dealer match a price.
