Question Anyone notice sometimes ECO/VCM decides not to kick on on a straight road?

I notice on my daily commute of 50 miles (both ways) in the mornings sometimes on a straight road going 70-73 mph (even 65) the eco light will just not come on and its on cruise . Should this be something I should have checked?

Thanks

Is the engine fully warmed up when this occurs?

I noticed mine would at times not kick in at highway speeds. Usually above 70 or so it would not go on, even in cruise mode. Prob. because it needs all 6 cylinders to keep up that speed due to wind resistance, aerodynamics, etc.

Default VCM not kicking in

95% of the time my pilot lives 70-75 range for cruising even on a north-bound route on clear sunny days with no wind the eco light still doesnt come on its rare but i just get annoyed my instant MPG is low .

I'd much prefer if mine didn't come on since then it seems to seek and find, go in and out of ECO which causes vibration, shutter, etc. Had the dealer drive it today and says it's due to the 3 cylinder mode. He said Honda has been sending monthly software updates for vehicles but my 2011 is not included, so far. I'd be happy if I could disable the VCM, it's just too annoying for me.

I guess on some days it has to do with wind resistance and such..cause eco comes on now I should understand these dynamics more I guess.. thanks for all the replys

It happens once in a while.
Sometimes I rev it up a little to give it a little push(or pull) then ease on the gas. It usually works.
Sometimes no matter what you do, if it decides it needs all 6, it will use it to maintain your speed, especially if you're loaded up.

I stopped worrying about it.
No shudder or vibration getting in and out of ECO/VCM on mine though.

If you used a scangauge II, you could see that the "ECO" light isn't always an indication of when VCM is engaged. Sometimes, the "ECO" light just means you are at optimal performance on 6 cylinders.

I've experienced this a couple of times, where it just would not go into 3 cylinder mode. Those times have been due to high wind (headwind or crosswind). Also, 15min may not be enough to fully warm up if you were parked outside in single digits...
