Default Explain to me how you turn off the vehicle stability assist

I read the owners manual and it states to hold the vsa button down until you hear a beep to turn it on and off. I've done this in neutral, park, d, d3, d2, and d1 - all with the car running but not moving. No response from the car. Vsa dash light did not do a thing and didn't hear a beep. I must be doing something wrong-please advise. Thanks!

Does the light come on when you first start your Pilot? I wonder if the bulb isn't working. I have a 2007 and the light immediately comes on when I push the VSA button to turn it off, moving or stopped.

^^^^ Samsies!

There is only one way to test it, though. Not that I'd recommend hooning around in a Pilot.

No warning light on when you turn it off?

The owners manual states that I should see the "VSA" light illuminate momentarily when I start the car, which I do see.

I've now tried it with the cruise control on and off + also holding the button down and just hitting it - still no luck in being able to turn it on and off.

Rocky - are you saying that your 2009-2011 pilot also does not show any indication that the VSA is off when you hit the button?

Again, the owners manual states you should hear an audible beep when it is turned off. It would also be incredibly surprising to hear that that's all you'd get that would indicate VSA has been disabled...I'm sure there is/should be highly visable dash light that will illuminate when you turn VSA off.

I'm not getting the beep; I'm not seeing any indicator whatsover on the dash that indicates "VSA OFF" and yet I know the bulb for this indicator is working/not burned out because I see it momentarily when I first start the car.

Something seems wrong...

Seems wrong....
Pressing my VSA button about 2 seconds will beep and activate dash light when pressed with engine running and car in park or in any gear. It will beep and turn off the dash warning symbol when pressed again or by shutting off the engine. I did not try it when in motion.

That's what I thought. Guess I'll be visiting the dealer yet again for a warranty issue. Glad I found out now vs. later. My guess is the switch is bad because the vsa appears to be working properly. I just don't have the functionality of being able to turn it off and on.

Thanks for the info!

In reading the service manual, it looks like your VSA modulator-control might just need a software update. If the light isn't coming on, it will likely be that or a replacement of the modulator-control. The shop should also do a gauge diagnostic check with the HDS to figure out the issue. Maybe its a communication issue. Luckily, everything is under warranty as electrical issues/components can get expensive!

Thanks. We will have this addressed at the next oil change, which is soon. I'll also post an update on this thread.

I almost wonder if it's just a bad switch. The dash VSA light illuminates when you first turn the key to start the car. All that being said, I'm not 100% certain that the vsa is working properly. I can't recall if I've ever seen the VSA dash light illuminated when we were driving in slippery conditions and sliding a little. I seem to recall reading in the owners manual that you would see the VSA light flash if it's been activated.

Yeah mine definitely flashes when the wheels lose grip. You should be able to force it into limited wheel slip spin even with the VSA on. It's easiest to do from a stop with the wheels turned or in slippery conditions and it doesn't take a lot of pedal.

Just remember that the VTM-4 system automatically kicks into AWD depending on how much power you are pushing through it. It will transfer power to all four wheels under normal conditions and heavy acceleration. That's one of the reasons we don't experience torque steer to the degree that most front wheel drive cars do.

Default Update

Dealer said the switch wasn't connected properly at factory. Fixed now!
