I currently drive a 2010 Honda Element with 28,000 miles. I am finding it to be great but want more room. I am looking at a 2009 Honda Pilot exl 4x4 with dvd system with 96000 miles. They want around $19,950. Just wanted to get an experienced viewpoint on this. Is this a good price? The car has been smoked in but I am hoping that it will get better with use. Any help would be appreciated.

Smoked in cars never fully recover. It was traded just before the 105k expensive service. Plenty of Pilots out there in the under $20k range. Keep looking

I traded in my 2010 Honda Element with 28000 miles for a 2008 Honda Pilot EX-l with DVD it has 92,000 miles and no smoke. Better color as well, white. I paid $532 plus my vehicle. I thought did well. I know the miles are high and I took a step back in years but lots of options and now the whole family can ride together. I know there are better deals out there and the 105 thousand check up is coming but I am happy. So now I am a pilot owner.

Edmunds TMV, average condition, puts that vehicle at $18,800 from a dealer and $17,700 from a private party. So, if you want it, make sure you hagle some.
Personally, I don't ever want a smokers car. As others said, it never comes out completely. You can always tell, even from a used car lot that details and air freshens you can still tell. However, my BIL bought a smoker's car and went through a bottle of febreeze, and it's okay, but you can still tell.

That's not a great price for that mileage.
It's not exactly a rip off, but..........as others have said you can do better or be sure to negotiate downward hard. For those mentioning about ex-smokers cars. There is actually 1 thing I know of that will work. You need an Ozone generator with good output I'm not talking one of them B.S. Auto 12V adapter sized ones they sell in high end gadget mags like SkyMall. You need a real one like for example an Alpine Aire Classic XL or something. You have to set it on MAX output and leave it in a seald car for at least 6 hours, better overnight if you can. However you shouldn't do this with a vehicle in an enclosed space. After that amount of time....you should take a deep breath and then open the car and all it's doors windows sun/moon roof and trunk to air out the car. That much Ozone can be not great to breathe in so clear the area for a few min. Then I would take it for professional interior detailing immediately. It's a bit extreme, but for those who are sensitive to smoke smell it may be worth it if you get stuck with an ex-smokers car. I know this works because I was a smoker and I did this with a 96 Civic EX with cloth seats when I quit. And there's no smoke detector better than a FORMER smokers nose. I kid you not, I can sometimes smell a burning cigarette with my windows UP and the smokers windows UP when adjacent to them at a stop light. Rev |
