I think I've found my car for the immediate need.
Probably going to go with an Acura TL Type S manual in (hopefully) black, either '07 or '08. It's got everything I want 'cept the HSW, and keeps me in the Honda/Acura family where I'm comfortable and familiar. Not as boring as the Accord. Pretty much a win. The trouble now is actually locating one, they're few & far between based on the past week or so worth of internet used car listing searching. Thanks again all who participated in our little conversation, some good info/ ideas came out of it all. Rev |

How about a gently used 10-11 Saab 9-5? The bottom dropped out of their resale value due to the bankruptcy. Even new ones can be had for 15k off sticker. I don't think they have a heated steering wheel, but it's a big modern car, twin-scroll turbo, DI, good mileage, sporty, and most importantly with 6 speed manual. And, well, they're born from jets!
I'm going to check out one tomorrow at nearby stealership just for the hell of it.

Well, it took yet another twist right at the end here.
I ended up purchasing a same model year (2006) Acura TSX 6MT I like it very much so far. I got the Heated Side Mirrors, Heateed Leather Seats & Navigation from my punch list of really nice to haves. Only had to sacrifice the heated steering wheel. I managed to update the NAV wihtout expense, and I picked up an OEM Nav disk for the wife's 2009 Pilot that wouldn't work with the other one, for about $60 less than the ridiculous web price of $149 + S/H I like most things about the TSX. The handling is naturally a little less sporty/grippy than the Si, but it actually produces more power when accelerating. I'm not crazy that the iv-tech doesn't kick in until like 6k RPM which really limits it usefullness being set so close to the redline....so I'm considering having a Hondata Reflash done to lower the setpoint to 4800 RPM Oh and all of this for only about a $4k out of pocket expense, so all in all I'm a happy camper. In a few years I can revisit a new or newer car again and pick up the by then latest & greatest luxuries. Meantime, thanks again for all who posted. Peace, Rev |
