Hello,
I just bought this about 4 months ago from a dealer who sold and serviced the vehicle (40,563). I was wondering does the MM give any info on V-TM4 fluid changes, trans-axles, or Transmission fluid changes. Not sure of when I should replace those fluids. It is driven lightly with no towing in New Jersey. This is what the Carfax for the Maintenance previously done showed when I bought it. 1,009 - Vehicle Serviced 11,952- Oil and filter Changed chassis Lubricated, recommend maintenance performed. 24,545 - interior trim checked, recommenced maintenance performed, brakes checked. 27,187 - Front brake rotors resurfaced/turned. 31,109 Recommended maintenance performed, brakes checked, transmission serviced. 38,769 Oil and filter changed chassis lubricated tires rotated. 40,476 I bought the pilot and they put new tires on and resurfaced the rotors. 48,000 I replaced oil and filter and rotated tires. Front brake pads look good, Back pads seem worn but have some more time on them. I'm concerned about taking care of the transmission, has there been issues with the trans in the past. Any help on putting together a schedule for the V-tm4, transmission and axles. looks like the transmission was serviced at 31,109 if they really did it. |

In general, you can go by the MM. It gives "symbols" (codes) for maintenance items, including transmission, transfer and VTM-4 rear diff fluid, which are listed in your owners manual. If you read the maintenance section, you will see these codes.
If you did not get an owners manual, there is one online -> https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...SZA2009OMA.pdf

My 2009 pilot is in today for the tranny/transfer/vtm-4, brake inspection, filter replacement... checkup that occurs at the 60,000 miles interval. Mine is at 62,992 as of this morning. So far everything runs really smoothly. This is the first time I've looked into doing the service myself since it is an expensive checkup and service. I think it's going to cost me close to $500 for everything. Other than that, owning this vehicle has been relatively cheap.

Just took care of the tranny/transfer/vtm-4 on my '09 @ 35K miles. Did the service myself with info gained from this forum. Using orig Honda Fluids and having to buy a pump for the vtm-4 bottle, the whole thing came in around $75. If you can change your oil, you can definitely do this service yourself and save a few bucks.
