This is probably a silly question but I'm asking it anyway.
About two weeks ago I got into my Pilot in my garage that had been closed all night. I go to work very early so it was dark. As I got up to speed down the road the wind noise increased because my window was open about an inch. Living in Michigan it wasn't warm the day before so I thought it was odd but closed the window. The noise continued so I closed the rear drivers side window. The noise still continued and I looked at the passenger side and both windows were open an inch... I closed them but thought this was really odd because I knew I hadn't opened them all the previous day. But the wind noise, although reduced, remained... My sunroof was raised too. Now I _know_ I didn't open that. My conclusion was that someone had entered my garage and somehow got the ignition on - however illogical it may be - and opened all the windows for a joke. It gets stranger... I was dining out with a neighbor who lives about 100 yards from me last night and I mentioned it. They said that exactly the same thing happened to their Pilot at about the same time while it was locked in their garage. I know it doesn't make sense that some RF incident occurred that remotely opened the windows but I can't think of any other explanation... Any clues or thoughts? |

Well, not sure if the neighbor was a coincidence, but if the remote key unlock button is inadvertently pressed a couple of times and held for a short while on the second press, that both unlock the doors and it will activate opening of all windows and the moonroof.

Agree with lance, you must of held the unlock buttons for a few extra seconds; opened the window/sunroof function.

Haha, one of the "features" that you don't know about cause you didn't read the manual
... If you double-press and hold the unlock button on your remote, it'll open all windows and the moon roof for as long as you hold it. It's nice in the summer it cool the car as you approach it.You must have had your remote in your pocket and accidentally double-press and held the unlock button (for a short time that resulted in the windows opened for only a little bit... Good thing you're not parked outside and it was raining ![]() And no, as far as I know there's no way to disable this feature

What some suggested doing to mitigate an inadvertent button press while the remote is in your pocket is to pickup one of those silicone rubber key/remote covers. They do make the key a little bulkier, but the buttons end up being slightly more recessed. I use one and I feel a little better that I won't accidentally unlock and open all the widows, especially when the Pilot sits outside the garage overnight.

Brilliant... <banging head on keyboard>
That'll teach me to read the manual... I'm going to yell at my salesman for not telling me that - This is my third pilot I've got from him...

Only problem is, OP said his moonroof was RAISED. The remote open function opens the moonroof, not raise/vent position.

NYHusker:
Sorry.... I made the assumption it was raised because of the small amount of wind noise. Having "tested" the feature in the light of day the roof opened as did all the windows... Since the windows were only cracked an inch the sunroof was in the state where it had begun to open so it looked raised, (the back drops down to come inside the roof). I'd like the feature a lot better if it also had the reverse function and closed everything with a double push of the lock button... Maybe I just expect too much...

The Pilot now comes with a gas sensor in the cabin. If anyone farts inside the vehicle the windows and sunroof will open slightly. Get yourself some Beano. ;-)
