Default 2011 Pilot Steering column clunk

This car is a piece of s**t!

Now if I move the steering side to side I notice a clunk. If I ride on not so smooth surface if clunks like something if loose. If I put little pressure (turn it) it stops doing it.

The clunks seems to come from the top cardan joint

Took it to the dealer they say that it is normal, that the Oddisey model makes more noise.

It seems that American Honda got some GMC genes.....

Have you checked the spring isolators? They could be damaged or missing in which case this is an easy fix.

The sound comes from the top cardan joint or u-joint, found the cardan cross is made in china. Some links regarding a similar problem in Chevys say greasing the splines will solve the problem.

You really narrowed down where it's coming from - bravo. If according to the dealer it's normal, have them sit with you in a few other Pilots on the lot and demonstrate to you just how normal it is. Among my family and friends, there are 4 2011 Pilots among us. None of them have this "normal" clunking noise, only the "normal" ill-fitting rear hinge covers to various degrees. In my shade-tree mechanic experience, U-joints don't clunk unless there's a problem.

I hate dealers with a passion. They're all a bunch of scam artists. I guess this holds true in Nicaragua as well. The best of luck to you!
