Default Does your Pilot Sputter at Startup?

I have heard most of the issues with the '12, but also with the '11 so I posted it here.

I have owned an '09 and an '11 and have never had the issue a single time. The 2012 does it at least once a day, sometimes more.

Please post if the dealer has provided a solution to the problem. Thanks.

Where's the "No, never does it" option?

Because I'm only interested in how many Pilot's have the issue.

It should also be noted that on SOME '12 Pilots, this issue can be alleviated by pausing in the "On" position (and allowing fuel pressure to increase) before cranking it. Before I began doing this=>2-3 times /week.... After=>zero.

Irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. It shouldn't be necessary to wait a couple of seconds to let fuel pressure build up. My '03, '05, '07 and '10 Pilots did not have this problem, nor did my 1966 Pontiac GTO for that matter.

This is a good point but my 09 or 11 did not need this either.

This does indicate a fuel issue. Either they changed the fuel delivery system or the tune.

My guess is there will be an updated tune to fix the problems.

You missed my point entirely and are assuming that I'm accepting the issue simply because there's a workaround.

This IS relevant to anyone new to this forum and comes across this poll, assuming that there isn't a workaround until Honda resolves the issue.

It would appear that we both missed each other's point.

Mine has done it a couple of times...it's a '10. It only does it when the key isn't held in the start position for a long enough period. Maybe that's what's going on with all of these. There seems to be a certain way to start the car, and if you don't do it just right, you get the sputters.

I see. It's one of those "When did you quit beating your wife?" type of questions.

It would be rather important to see the pilots that haven't seen this "problem" against those that have. This way, for all you know, every pilot could have the problem, but only 5 people chose to do the poll.

Also, there's a multi-page thread up on this "problem."

It is stated in the first post that I have had 2 other Pilot's and they did not have the issue. So its pretty obvious that not every Pilot does it.

Yes I know about the other thread, I have posted in it.

I can see how a Pilot owner who has not experienced this would not think its a big deal. The reality is the the car should not do this. I had a Chevy Uplander that did the same thing and it was fixed by replacing a bad FPR. The biggest concern I have with the Honda issue is they are turning customers away because they cannot diagnose or fix the problem. This worries me. If I did not own 2 other identical vehicles previously that NEVER did this, I would probably would not think twice about it.

I had a 11 and it did it in the beginning and then stopped. My 12 has done it a few times but only had this one for a week. I will post again in a week or so but hoping it stops just like the other one did. Not a huge deal as long as the car does start!

Exactly! While it might be annoying, at least it's starting. Also, just to throw this out there, my 2003 does this at random all the time and has since I purchased it.
