Hi, I recently purchased a 2012 Honda Pilot in Dark Cherry Pearl II. I was thinking of getting running boards for it but undecided between the premium and the running board with LED. I noticed that the premium comes both in aluminum (part#08L33-SZA-100B) and chrome (100E), but all the pictures I've seen look the same. Is there a real noticeable difference between the two? Is the chrome worth the additional money. Any opinions which would look better with the Dark Cherry color (premium (aluminium or chrome, or running board with LED). Thanks in advance.

The only difference between the aluminum and chrome is that the part that has the "aluminum" color is a shiny "chrome" look on the chrome ones. Like slamminrc said I think it would look good against the Touring since it has the chrome door piece. I don't really like the looks of the LED boards. I actually went with chrome side steps for my Pilot. I think they look the best against the WDP color.
Good luck! |

if you rather not have the boards stick out i would go with the LED ones since they are all black. the premium boards will look good against the dark cherry but the aluminum or chrome will have it stick out more of course.

I have the LED boards with my Dark Cherry and have to say that I love them! My wife and friends say that they look fantastic! I kept going back and forth between these and the chrome, but went with this because my wife has lights under the sides of her car that comes on when the doors are opened and I personally like seeing where I'm stepping when getting out, but that's just me!

Thanks everyone for the responses. I keep going back and forth but now leaning towards the premium board in aluminum. I feel like it will contrast well with the dark cherry and the aluminum will go with the alloy wheels. I'll probably change my mind 20 more times before actually ordering.
I might have to visit a dealership in hopes of seeing both the LED and the premium installed on a dark cherry.

This is random, but does anyone know why the holes for the brackets were not evenly spaced? It seems like the front and middle and close but then the rear sits further away from the middle bracket holes. You would think that evenly spaced brackets would not cause any flex when stepping onto the boards or side steps from the rear. Is anyone else having some sort of flex on the boards/side steps when stepping on the very rear section?

I bought the premium running board in aluminum for my Black 2012 Touring. It looks great on the car. I got them from Greg May Honda in Waco TX. You can call them directly @ 888-530-4221 and ask for Jeremy. I got them for $430 shipped but that's for 3 sets. I was originally was quoted at $435 shipped each, but talked him down $5 each. LOL You can probably get them for $440 shipped if you are only order 1 set. You would have to call him for pricing. |

yeah that's what i figured but you would think the rear bracket would be placed more toward the rear to help with the support? although you would want the person getting in the rear to step right in the middle of the step pad where it's the strongest that won't always happen=)just seems like the board/side step could break after time.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I ended up getting the premium w/ chrome. I negotiated it as part of the deal when purchasing my Pilot. I got the running board and roof rails installed for $740. Could have saved around $70 if ordered online, but I think the time I saved in me installing it myself is worth the extra amount paid. As ppl mentioned here, the premium boards does kinda stick out since its wide and it has chrome. Initially, I was thinking I should have went with the led lights as I think it would blend in more, but I'm getting used to the premium board. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase. Thanks again everyone!

I bought the ones with the LED lights and they really look good against the grey color I got on the Pilot. The boards are very easy to install and if you follow the thread on the rivutnut home made tool, its quick and cheap.
They are sturdy enough to stand on for when I need to wash the roof of the Pilot. |
