Just moved to Bolling AFB in DC, and driving here is terrible - too many people.. Anyways, some guy ran into the back of our Civic a week ago (not too bad) and I was thinking to myself.. How safe will this really be if I get into a real accident with my wife and 3 year old?
I went to the dealer and traded my 08 Civic EX w/navi (should have sold privately for more $ but I guess I have no patience) w/ 52K miles on it for $10,700.. Bought a 2011 4WD Pilot EX-L w/RES (hate Honda's Nav so I just bought a Garmin) (demo) w/ 5,500 miles on it for $31,750 + freight ($780) + a $595 "appearance package" that included pinstripes, wheel locks and.. not sure what else.. Also bought extended warranty 60/60K for $1,575. They gave me $500 back.. Everything including TTL, freight, appearance package, warranty, registration, $500 Honda cash for financing with them agagin (60 mos. for 1.9%) etc came out to $33,340 (registered car in FL so no taxes )...Hoping I did alright.. It was a demo but in great shape - I love the Pilot so far.. I want to go on a road trip.. Just wish there was a way to get some sound on the DVD in the rear w/out headphones and a different source up front.. |

Then went online and bought the OEM rugged floormats (not from Honda - got the best deal I could find), and the 2nd row seat cover (also good deal online).. Thought that would be wise with a 3 years old..

Welcome to the d.c. area. You are now part of "my" too many people traffic problem. ;-) Your biggest savings was not having to pay taxes or personal property tax and to that I can only say thanks for serving our country, you deserve it. :-)
I'm sure you will love the Pilot. With my wife and 7 year old it's a little overkill but it's a great, comfortable ride. The d.c. area has a lot to offer other than just traffic; enjoy and explore.

Should have been certified preowned, with 100k warranty. It is used, and you paid a high price if not Honda certified. Plus you had 30,000 miles on bumper to bumper. Got taken on the warranty, you'll never get it to pay you back. You bought 30k of warranty when you had 36/60.

The dealer can extend your warranty as a demo for an additional 6month/6000 miles.......make sure you ask them about it. Many don't even know it exists as an AHM program. |

FWI, I negotiated the price of our new 2011 EX 4wd at less than the price of the demo. I'm sure someone could definitely come up to me and say, "Oh, you could have saved more!" but what counts is that I felt right paying what I pay for they car I have. If you like the car for the price you paid, don't worry about it, especially when you are asking the opinion of a person that could live anywhere in the world(different dealer incentives, and etc.).
