Hi guys,
The rear hatch window will not open whether I'm using the key, door button or the button above the license plate. Is this common issue? On the side note, I was involved in front collision a month ago. Not major, the front bumper and left head light had to be replaced because it cracked and headlight was pushed in. No Engine damage. Any possibility this may have caused the rear glass to not operate? Thanks in advance, Jake EX-L model

Not sure if it's common, sorry. My first thought is a fuse, followed by a bad latch. Then maybe what, a bad ground? A broken/crumpled light could have blown a fuse but sounds like a longshot. Is everything else back there working?

Good leads, but the headlight, drl etc were all still working. I'll check if all the lights are working back there today.
Thanks

If the fuses are good and everything else is working, I'm sure you can check at the latch connection for voltage when the button is pressed. If power is making it all the way to the latch, it must be the latch.

One of the things I've noticed - and I'm not sure if it's what you're experiencing - is this:
When the sun is baking the rear of the car and the hatch heats up, the glass tends to stick slightly to the seal. So much so, that the tension against the latch isn't enough to allow it to pop free when the latch releases. This has the effect of making it appear as though the hatch won't open. What you have to do is pull on the hatch pull as you hit the button (either on the remote, or in the area near the license plate light). When the latch disengages, it should open right up (albeit with a bit of effort on your part). I suspect that if you were to complain about it to the dealer, they'd probably treat the weatherstripping with a bit of Shin Etsu grease to prevent the sticking. But that will be a short term solution.
