Default Pilot Catching Fire??

So my co-worker has a 2011 Touring model and came up to me this morning and told me how his kids came in and told him the Pilot was on fire. He thought they were joking at first, he got up and went out to the driveway and sure enough, his pilot was on fire! He grabbed a fire extinguisher and was able to put out the fire in the engine compartment. He said that it had been off for a while. Needless to say, he was making lots of phone calls today. Anyone heard of this before?

My biggest complaint this time of the year when it comes to our Pilot is the large dry leaf, twig and acorn-collecter gap between the windshield and hood. I could see a potential fire being started with leaf-kindle on a hot engine.

Check the kid's bedroom. You may find a half pack of smokes and a lighter.

UPDATE:

My coworker told me they believe that a collection of leaves under the hood started the fire. His insurance covered the fix, but I think he is going to contact Honda and let them know about this issue. That's all the story I had time to get out of him while passing in a hallway monday.

At least it wasn't a tragedy like this fire.
