Default 2012 EXL Audio System - Horrible!

Has anyone else found the sound quality of the EXL system to be awful? It seems that I have to crank the volume to hear anything at all. I am wondering what my options are:

If I swap the speakers (front and rear doors), will they have enough juice to operate or would they sound worse? Would I be compromising the Active Noise Cancellation system? What if any are my options for the sub without building a box?

If this brand-spanking new EXL system is as horrible as you describe, you should have it down at the dealership. I do not think you want to start tearing into a brand new unit swapping speakers.

You do want to play with the speaker balance and make sure each speaker and amp is working correctly. This is done thru the controls on the center console. Just rotate thru each side (R-L) and front-back.

I thought the exact same thing! And I examined ALL possible audio options on the screen and it still sounded crappy. I'm sorry but Honda has just cheapened this 2nd generation Pilot so much that it's a joke. I noticed on the one I drove that even the visors are so flimsy that, when extended, they almost constantly vibrate up and down at highway speeds. Quite annoying on a $35K car, and wasn't an issue on the first gen models.

IDK, to each their own I guess -- you all can have your new Pilots but I'm sticking with the first generation...in my mind it is and always will be the best SUV ever made. They are not perfect, but as an overall package they cannot be beat.

There are several reasons as to why the Hondas sound system leaves something to be desired. Horrible speaker placement, cheap parts and a lack of power.
