Smile Taking Pilot off-road

I'm very interested in taking my 2011 Pilot 4x4 off-road (not extreme of course). Does anyone know a place around North Texas area? Mud, sand, water, cliffs or any. Your input is much appreciated.

Cliff-wheeling is my favorite! Sometimes when I'm falling down a cliff with my stereo crooning country, I'll hit a outcropping of rock and an airbag will fire off! Nothing quite like that adrenaline rush...

Ok, sarcasm off: The Pilot is quite capable and has good 4WD traction, however it's NOT a Hummer. Water and mud can make a mess of drivetrain components if you go offroad frequently, sticks and rocks (this is Texas, y'all have crazy rocks there) can rip CV boots and low hanging parts, and there aren't near enough skid plates under a Pilot for hard trail usage.

That said, last winter I followed a 2004 Dodge Ram with a 4" lift and 35" tires down a closed seasonal road for a good 3 miles. Heavy, deep snow and ruts, lots of puddles, slush, and generally a hot mess of a road. My Pilot did awesome, kept up with the big truck, and surprised all 5 passengers (yep, 5) in my Honda. I don't mind snow because it really doesn't leave any lasting mess on your rig, usually all you'll do is end up stuck if things go badly.

Just my 0.02, but if you go wheeling take it slow and have fun... just don't whine if you see some mild damage afterwards!

Be careful of submerging the rear diff. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there's a vent above the unit that's susceptible to foreign liquid or material from entering.
