Default anybody use a credit card for the downpayment

i will probably buy my pilot within a week. just wondering if anybody paid a big part of their down payment with a credit card. i'm not asking because i can't afford the payment, but i actually i want to rack up mad credit card points/rewards lol i read some dealers have limits on how much you can use credit cards obviously becausec of the fees. what do you guys think?

My dealer allowed up to $5k, so yes! When I bought my subaru they capped at 2k.

dealer allowed 3k for me only. i asked if it could be run thru multiple times and they said no. i would have put the entire down payment on it and would pay the monthly payment with a CC if I were able to. If you are going to pay it anyway, why not get some reward (points, miles, whatever) out of it? I use CC for just about everything.

Great idea!! You know, I feel really dumb because I just cashed some of my CC points last friday and I paid my downpayment using a check on monday, not thinking, it's from the same account that I would have gotten points from. The check was already cashed, boy do I feel dumb, especially since I use the card to get points all of the time. I guess the only consolation is that there's a $2,000 cap and I put more down than that.

I used my debit card (tied to my checking acct) the day I picked up the pilot for my down payment but it was a $2500 limit at the dealer. Had to bring in a check the next day for the remainder of my down payment.

I'm pro-points, as well as zero balance. However, I simply spend less when I'm using cash. I never thought it would be true but when I switched to cash I just spent less. Big things, though, go on the cards, including auto-pay for bills. But, lunches, booze, presents, etc. are all cash items for me now.

I bought my Pilot using several credit cards. None of them were mine though. ;-)
