How to find the Navi version on 2012?

Hey guys, I've searched previous threads, read through the Navi and Owner's manuals, and googled about a Navi question that I have, all to no avail.

How in the heck does one find out which Navi version he has? I just bought a 2012, and the Navi manual states that they come out with an update about once a year, usually in the Fall. After reading some other threads about owners being 'down-rev'd' on their new Navi units, I'd like to make sure that I have the latest and greatest.

I see all of the Database and Software versions listed under system info, but those numbers don't correlate with the latest version listed on the Honda Navigation Center site (v4.A2). Can someone let me borrow the super secret decoder ring?

Also, several of the other threads mention that older models came with a Navi DVD which was inside of the Navi unit (under the passenger seat)? I'm not seeing any separate Navi head unit anywhere on the '12, so I assume that the Navi unit comes pre-loaded and without the latest DVD?

Dear confused,

Not sure if you realize that you're comparing the latest software version for the 2011 Pilot, but your 2012 Pilot has all-new hard drive-based system, for which there are no updates yet.

Yet can check for official updates off of Honda's site in the "Owner's Resources" section, which links you directly to here: https://store.alpine-usa.com/Hondadv.../naviorder.php

If you enter 2012 Pilot, you will see no updates. If you enter 2011 Pilot, they are showing the 4.A2 you mentioned. So rest assured, your 2012 came installed with the latest and greatest.

Hmmm, I didn't realize that the '09-'11 model years were not the same HDD-based Navi system as I didn't see that specifically mentioned anywhere; I figured that the '12 just had an update to the previous Navi units.

Yes Kscurl, I have the 2011 and the NAV DVD is under the driver seat. The 2012 comes with a hard drive and I guess they put the NAV info on it. pretty cool.
