I've gotten 24mpg on a couple of long, straight hauls on the interstates. That's even with A/C and 5 people/luggage. That said, it's usually more like 21-22mpg for trips and 19mpg for around town. 2011 EX-L/RES

2wd, correct? I think 24 mpg is impossible in the 4wd. I can't help you because I added a full size spare to my 4wd, but my lifetime mileage in a 60/40 mix of city/highway is 17.2 mpg |

3 Tanks of gas so far in '12 Touring AWD . . . 18.6, 24.6, 18.8. 24.6 was coming back from Western NC Mountains so it was a long downhill ride followed by miles of interstate 40.

2012 Touring 4x4
After buying it off the truck, I had a 150 mile trip from the dealer to home, 55-65mph, slight to moderate hills, only myself in the car, averaged 25.6 mpg. I had to take it easy since someone who doesn't drive much was following me ![]() Since then, I've been averaging about 21mpg with an 80/20 mix of city/highway respectively, but that's with the wife/baby/car-seat in the car most of the time and the extra gear that I added. |

Let your wife pay for it and she can buy whatever she likes. ;-)
Most I ever got was close was 26.6 mpg doing 70 mph on a highway decline. As others have mentioned while the 12 tires are 18 inch they are now a narrower car-based tire versus the wider s.u.v. tires on the 9-11s which improves milage slightly but might not be as quite good on the snow.

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: pencil out a 2 mpg delta and you're talking about saving $150/yr on gas compared to a new car that depreciates $4K/yr. It makes no economic sense, but it can be used to rationalize a new car if you want the new car for other reasons.
